I'm trying to get AACRAID 6805 support on FreeBSD 9. I downloaded the driver code for FreeBSD 8.3 and compiled it on FreeBSD 9.0 and it compiled without any errors/warnings. Then I kldload-ed it and got: aacu0: mem 0xf8c00000-0xf8ffffff,0xf8bbc000-0xf8bbc7ff,0xf8bbe000- 0xf8bbe0ff irq 50 at device 0.0 on pci132 aacu0: Enable Raw I/O aacu0: Enable 64-bit array aacu0: New comm. interface type1 enabled aacu0: Adaptec 6805, aac driver 2.4.2-18668 aacd0: on aacu0 aacd0: 2860022MB (5857325056 sectors) aacu0: COMMAND 0xffffff8001fe3000 TIMEOUT AFTER 40 SECONDS aacu0: aac_timeout: FIB @ 0xffffff86955fe020 aacu0: XferState 830ad aacu0: Command 502 aacu0: StructType 1 aacu0: Flags 0x0 aacu0: Size 80 aacu0: SenderSize 2048 aacu0: SenderAddress 0x0 aacu0: RcvrAddress 0x1962b020 aacu0: SenderData 0x0 aacu0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 01 00 aacu0: 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 The driver hangs forever printing aacu0: COMMAND 0xffffff8001fe3000 TIMEOUT AFTER xxxx SECONDS I compiled it with debug info to get verbose logging and found that all sync commands work during initialization, but the driver didn't get a reply on the first async rawio command. It looks like there is some problem with interrupts. On 8.3 this code works without a problem. I tried to disable PCIE MSI/X in loader.conf but this didn't help. Adaptec support answered "Unfortunately, at the present time we do not offer support for FreeBSD 9. Only 8.x is currently supported. Support for FreeBSD 9 is scheduled and will be available on a future release currently expected in the fall of this year (Oct time frame)." Any ideas? P.S. On FreeBSD 8.3 I noticed kernel message "aacu0: [ITHREAD]" after "aacu0: New comm. interface type1 enabled" but FreeBSD 9 doesn't write it. -- Alexandr V. My company bought new motherboards ASUS model "P8H61-M LX", these have onboard Realtek 8111e NICs. My computer does not adquire DHCP IP address when I install FreeBSD/PCBSD 9, but when I install Windows I can use the network perfectly. I tray configuring manually the network parameters, and when I execute the command "/etc/netstart restart" I receive an interesting message "no carrier". So I think the problem is on the driver because I can use the network running Windows. Realtek has released a driver on 21/12/2011 for FreeBSD 7.x and 8.X an I want to kow if I can tray this driver or if there some update on FreeBSD that can help me to solve this problem. Below I attach the results of my tests trying to solve the problem. Best regards, joans4nz # ifconfig -a re0: flags=8843 metric 0 mtu 1500 options=389b ether 54:04:a6:be:93:85 inet6 fe80::5604:a6ff:febe:9385%re0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x2 nd6 options=23 media: Ethernet autoselect (none) status: no carrier plip0: flags=8810 metric 0 mtu 1500 nd6 options=21 lo0: flags=8049 metric 0 mtu 16384 options=3 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x5 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 nd6 options=21 # dhclient re0 re0: no link .............. giving up # dmesg | grep re0 re0: port 0xe000-0xe0ff mem 0xd0004000-0xd0004fff,0xd0000000-0xd0003fff irq 18 at device 0.0 on pci4 re0: Using 1 MSI-X message re0: Chip rev. 0x2c800000 re0: MAC rev. 0x00000000 miibus0: on re0 re0: Ethernet address: 54:04:a6:be:93:85 # cat /var/log/messages May 24 13:52:24 code00 kernel: re0: port 0xe000-0xe0ff mem 0xd0004000-0xd0004fff,0xd0000000-0xd0003fff irq 18 at device 0.0 on pci4 May 24 13:52:24 code00 kernel: re0: Using 1 MSI-X message May 24 13:52:24 code00 kernel: re0: Chip rev. 0x2c800000 May 24 13:52:24 code00 kernel: re0: MAC rev. 0x00000000 May 24 13:52:24 code00 kernel: miibus0: on re0 May 24 13:52:24 code00 kernel: rgephy0: PHY 1 on miibus0 May 24 13:52:24 code00 kernel: rgephy0: none, 10baseT, 10baseT-FDX, 10baseT-FDX-flow, 100baseTX, 100baseTX-FDX, 100baseTX-FDX-flow, 1000baseT, 1000baseT-master, 1000baseT-FDX, 1000baseT-FDX-master, 1000baseT-FDX-flow, 1000baseT-FDX-flow-master, auto, auto-flow May 24 13:52:24 code00 kernel: re0: Ethernet address: 54:04:a6:be:93:85 # pciconf -lv re0@pci0:4:0:0: class=0x020000 card=0x84321043 chip=0x816810ec rev=0x06 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.' device = 'RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller' class = network subclass = ethernet # cat /etc/rc.conf background_dhclient="YES" compat5x_enable="YES" sshd_enable="NO" devd_enable="YES" devfs_system_ruleset="devfsrules_common" ldconfig_paths="/usr/lib/compat /usr/local/lib /usr/local/kde4/lib /usr/local/lib/compat/pkg" # Disable Sendmail by default sendmail_enable="NONE" # Enable console mouse moused_type="auto" moused_enable="YES" #Enable samba server samba_enable="YES" winbindd_enable="YES" # Disable LPD lpd_enable="NO" # Enable CUPS cupsd_enable="YES" linux_enable="YES" # FSCK Enhancements fsck_y_enable="YES" # Denyhosts Startup denyhosts_enable="YES" # powerd: adaptive speed while on AC power, adaptive while on battery power powerd_enable="YES" powerd_flags="-a hiadaptive -b adaptive" # set CPU frequency # enable HAL / DBUS dbus_enable="YES" hald_enable="YES" # Enables support for HPLIP hpiod_enable="NO" hpssd_enable="NO" # Enable the firewall pf_rules="/etc/pf.conf" pf_enable="YES" pf_flags="" # Enable sound-support snddetect_enable="YES" mixer_enable="YES" # Enable avahi_daemon avahi_daemon_enable="YES" # Run the port jail portjail_enable="YES" # Added for sound support in the portjail, access to /dev/random, /dev/null, etc. jail_pcbsd_devfs_enable="YES" # Start the swapexd daemon swapexd_enable="YES" # Enable IPV6 support ipv6_activate_all_interfaces="YES" # Enable BSDStats bsdstats_enable="YES" # Enable webcamd webcamd_enable="YES" # Disable writing syslogs to remote devices by default syslogd_flags="-c -ss" # Enable pbid pbid_enable="YES" # Enable the gdm display manager gdm_enable="YES" # Enable BlueTooth hcsecd_enable="YES" sdpd_enable="YES" # Load the following kernel modules kld_list="if_bwn if_bwi bwi_v3_ucode bwn_v4_ucode runfw ng_ubt cuse4bsd sem ntfs ntfs_iconv udf udf_iconv ext2fs" # Clean out temporary files. clear_tmp_enable="YES" clean_tmp_X="YES" # Run the pcbsd init service pcbsdinit_enable="YES" # Enable anacron anacron_enable="YES" # Enable fusefs fusefs_enable="YES" gdm_lang="es_ES.UTF-8" ntpd_enable="YES" ntpd_sync_on_start="YES" keymap="spanish.iso" # Auto-Enabled NICs from pc-sysinstall ifconfig_re0="DHCP" # Auto-Enabled NICs from pc-sysinstall ifconfig_re0_ipv6="inet6 accept_rtadv" hostname="code00" mysql_enable="YES" mythbackend_enable="YES" vmware_guest_vmblock_enable="YES" vmware_guest_vmhgfs_enable="YES" vmware_guest_vmmemctl_enable="YES" vmware_guest_vmxnet_enable="YES" vmware_guestd_enable="YES"
