The change from sysconf(_SC_GETPW_R_SIZE_MAX) to LINE_MAX + 1 works nice here. This worked pretty good with version 1.1.13 and as I wrote, gain control was set in the middle (100%). But now, with pulseaudio enabled again, there is not problem with damaged sound quality any more. >> And last but not least: When I deinstall vlc I get the following message: >> pkg_delete: '/usr/local/lib/vlc/plugins/plugins.dat' fails original MD5 >> checksum - deleted anyway. >> > That's the file whose generating crashed when building with the old > vlc still installed, maybe it's regenerated at runtime otherwise? I am writing some kind of shared library at work which uses libxml2. I want to link statically with it. When I try, I get the following error: /usr/bin/ld: /usr/local/lib/libxml2.a(error.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC If I add -fPIC to CFLAGS and recompile libxml2 port, this error disappears. Is it possible to make this change to port so libxml2.a is always built with -fPIC? Thanks! To fix this is quite easy but time consuming. you need to replace all includes with a single . But a lot of older (read older then GNOME 3) software includes random glib headers so this is quite a big task to do. This will be done as part of the GNOME 3 import which will happen after FreeBSD 9.1 is released. -Koop > Any ideas on work arounds to get this package built? > > Thanks > > Jim Ballantine > _______________________________________________ > freebsd-gnome@freebsd.org mailing list > http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-gnome > To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-gnome-unsubscribe@freebsd.org" From owner-freebsd-gnome@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Aug 15 19:41:28 2012 Return-Path: Delivered-To: gnome@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F25351065674 for ; Wed, 15 Aug 2012 19:41:27 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from kwm@rainbow-runner.nl) Received: from fep23.mx.upcmail.net (fep23.mx.upcmail.net [62.179.121.43]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4191A8FC0C for ; Wed, 15 Aug 2012 19:41:26 +0000 (UTC) Received: from edge03.upcmail.net ([192.168.13.238]) by viefep23-int.chello.at (InterMail vM.8.01.05.05 201-2260-151-110-20120111) with ESMTP id <20120815194125.JOQN19151.viefep23-int.chello.at@edge03.upcmail.net>; Wed, 15 Aug 2012 21:41:25 +0200 Received: from [127.0.0.1] ([77.250.114.160]) by edge03.upcmail.net with edge id n7hN1j0393TiT91037hPYk; Wed, 15 Aug 2012 21:41:25 +0200 X-SourceIP: 77.250.114.160 Message-ID: <502BFB62.4030303@rainbow-runner.nl> Date: Wed, 15 Aug 2012 21:41:22 +0200 From: Koop Mast User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20120713 Thunderbird/14.0 MIME-Version: 1.0 To: David Lebel References: In-Reply-To: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Antivirus: avast! It used to be that libsamplerate (on which pulseaudio depends) pulled in the libsndfile dependency. Recently that port changed to make libsndfile optional in some cases. I agree the libsndfile should be mentioned explicitly in pulseaudio.
