I'm writing to You as a representative of Vilnius University, Department of Information Technology. We have noticed that in Lithuania there isn't a single fully working FreeBSD mirror. ftp.lt.freebsd.org in fact responds with errors instead of serving content, while ftp2.lt.freebsd.org fails to open too. Would it be beneficial to host a long-term oriented and reliable mirror? The mirror would be hosted and maintained by Vilnius University. At the moment we already host full Linux Debian and Ubuntu repositories, also Mozilla, ClamAV and Apache mirrors for quite some time. If You think we can help the (Lithuanian) FreeBSD community, please let me know. If that's the case, we will start looking for resources for the mirror. The archive would be served @ 1 Gbps connectivity (straight to backbone network), Rsync, ftp and http protocols (others too if needed). Unfortunately, no IPv6 connectivity yet but planned in the future. -- Best regards, Arnoldas Sareckis Vilnius University From owner-freebsd-hubs@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Mar 10 12:22:51 2012 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 62272106566C for ; Sat, 10 Mar 2012 12:22:51 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from aleksandr.stankevic@gmail.com) Received: from mail-we0-f182.google.com (mail-we0-f182.google.com [74.125.82.182]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E15908FC08 for ; Sat, 10 Mar 2012 12:22:50 +0000 (UTC) Received: by werl4 with SMTP id l4so2351866wer.13 for ; Sat, 10 Mar 2012 04:22:49 -0800 (PST) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20120113; h=subject:mime-version:content-type:from:in-reply-to:date:cc :content-transfer-encoding:message-id:references:to:x-mailer; bh=kAqM0Im7JyCAHlBn6qhd3JQ6nyjJu27hH+l8xFrRr/0=; b=p9QsuB3adCFmVK6M6GMSXAswXKpHQirtkzsSA73udrz2lUDaPX3XqV4WKGk9W4OSEt ZS6J8O8HBpA1U4SJucDmEr9mh8t6OkDlU1KGWzeY4dBXq4zgTubuzTA3iyp5hTq5H3+/ HvapVK2+XIKIBIQIm1TJWkeVTqZOW8oF4WZiRIwIVUTAuVUJPi9XLg8c3hsRdXiEu6br aHaPBLLH55xyjfOqODkrc0QWfxX7Jr0r5e3KgTs58gSRcgzNVOEfDenFZdXC0r6hRaKk gZmOTk8Tdt2WErqgenqZcs0ENfr1i+n7d6Tm3QSpkNRDv98RrSP7TT+eL0fIOv0kWKyX pDUQ== Received: by 10.180.102.100 with SMTP id fn4mr12624887wib.1.1331380616641; Sat, 10 Mar 2012 03:56:56 -0800 (PST) Received: from [192.168.1.174] ([78.63.217.241]) by mx.google.com with ESMTPS id t20sm25262224wiv.0.2012.03.10.03.56.55 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=OTHER); Sat, 10 Mar 2012 03:56:56 -0800 (PST) Mime-Version: 1.0 (Apple Message framework v1257) Content-Type: text/plain; charset=windows-1252 From: Aleksandr Stankevic In-Reply-To: <1331374587.9625.15.camel@Argentum.vu.lt> Date: Sat, 10 Mar 2012 13:57:01 +0200 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Message-Id: References: <1331374587.9625.15.camel@Argentum.vu.lt> To: =?windows-1252?Q?Arnoldas_=8Aareckis?= X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.1257) Cc: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Country mirror for Lithuania question X-BeenThere: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: "FreeBSD Distributions Hubs: mail sup ftp" List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 10 Mar 2012 12:22:51 -0000 Hi Arnoldas, I am the old lt.freebsd.org maintainer. ftp.lt.freebsd.org is hosted at = Hostex, but i have left the company a few years ago, so probably nobody = took care of it after i left.
