I copied that file from a linux machine, and now I'm failing on the greedyh.asm file. So finally I compiled it successfully. You need to change: 1. src/tvtime.c change #include to #include 2. plugins/tomsmocomp/tomsmocompmacros.h change #include to #include 3. plugins/tomsmocomp/TomsMoCompAll2.inc remove "DSc....::" from 8th and 10th line 4. plugins/tomsmocomp/TomsMoCompAll.inc remove "DSc...::" from 40th line 5. plugins/tomsmocomp.cpp add #include 6. plugins/greedyh.cpp add #include 7. plugins/greedyh.asm remove "DSc...::" from 21th line 8. configure with env LDFLAGS=-L/usr/local/lib\ -lintl ./configure There may be other things I just forgot... Beyond that limit, files will be polled. If you often open several large folders with Nautilus, you might want to increase the kern.maxfiles tunable (you do not need to set kern.maxfilesperproc, since it is computed at boot time from kern.maxfiles). For a typical desktop, add the following line to /boot/loader.conf, then reboot the system: kern.maxfiles="25000" The behavior of gamin can be controlled via the various gaminrc files. See http://www.gnome.org/~veillard/gamin/config.html on how to create these files. In particular, if you find gam_server is taking up too much CPU time polling for changes, something like the following may help in one of the gaminrc files: # reduce polling frequency to once per 10 seconds # for UFS file systems in order to lower CPU load fsset ufs poll 10 =============================================================================== pkg_add gettext-0.18.1.1.tbz skipping gettext-0.18.1.1, already added pkg_add gio-fam-backend-2.28.8_1.tbz pkg_add glew-1.7.0.tbz pkg_add glib-2.28.8_4.tbz skipping glib-2.28.8_4, already added pkg_add gmake-3.82.tbz pkg_add gobject-introspection-0.10.8_1.tbz pkg_add gstreamer-0.10.35.tbz pkg_add gstreamer-plugins-0.10.35_1,3.tbz pkg_add inputproto-2.0.2.tbz skipping inputproto-2.0.2, already added pkg_add kbproto-1.0.5.tbz skipping kbproto-1.0.5, already added pkg_add libGL-7.4.4.tbz skipping libGL-7.4.4, already added pkg_add libGLU-7.4.4.tbz skipping libGLU-7.4.4, already added pkg_add libICE-1.0.7,1.tbz skipping libICE-1.0.7,1, already added pkg_add libSM-1.2.0,1.tbz skipping libSM-1.2.0,1, already added pkg_add libX11-1.4.4,1.tbz skipping libX11-1.4.4,1, already added pkg_add libXau-1.0.6.tbz skipping libXau-1.0.6, already added pkg_add libXdamage-1.1.3.tbz skipping libXdamage-1.1.3, already added pkg_add libXdmcp-1.1.0.tbz skipping libXdmcp-1.1.0, already added pkg_add libXext-1.3.0_1,1.tbz skipping libXext-1.3.0_1,1, already added pkg_add libXfixes-5.0.tbz skipping libXfixes-5.0, already added pkg_add libXi-1.4.3,1.tbz skipping libXi-1.4.3,1, already added pkg_add libXmu-1.1.0,1.tbz skipping libXmu-1.1.0,1, already added pkg_add libXt-1.0.9,1.tbz skipping libXt-1.0.9,1, already added pkg_add libXv-1.0.6,1.tbz skipping libXv-1.0.6,1, already added pkg_add libXxf86vm-1.1.1.tbz skipping libXxf86vm-1.1.1, already added pkg_add libdrm-2.4.12_1.tbz skipping libdrm-2.4.12_1, already added pkg_add libffi-3.0.9.tbz skipping libffi-3.0.9, already added pkg_add libiconv-1.13.1_2.tbz skipping libiconv-1.13.1_2, already added pkg_add libpthread-stubs-0.3_3.tbz skipping libpthread-stubs-0.3_3, already added pkg_add libxcb-1.7.tbz skipping libxcb-1.7, already added pkg_add libxml2-2.7.8_2.tbz skipping libxml2-2.7.8_2, already added pkg_add orc-0.4.16.tbz skipping orc-0.4.16, already added pkg_add pcre-8.30_1.tbz skipping pcre-8.30_1, already added pkg_add perl-5.12.4_4.tbz skipping perl-5.12.4_4, already added pkg_add pkg-config-0.25_1.tbz skipping pkg-config-0.25_1, already added pkg_add python27-2.7.2_4.tbz skipping python27-2.7.2_4, already added pkg_add videoproto-2.3.1.tbz skipping videoproto-2.3.1, already added pkg_add xextproto-7.2.0.tbz skipping xextproto-7.2.0, already added pkg_add xf86vidmodeproto-2.3.1.tbz skipping xf86vidmodeproto-2.3.1, already added pkg_add xproto-7.0.22.tbz skipping xproto-7.0.22, already added ===> gstreamer-plugins-gl-0.10.2 depends on executable: gmake - found ===> gstreamer-plugins-gl-0.10.2 depends on file: /usr/local/libdata/pkgconfig/ice.pc - found ===> gstreamer-plugins-gl-0.10.2 depends on file: /usr/local/libdata/pkgconfig/x11.pc - found ===> gstreamer-plugins-gl-0.10.2 depends on package: gstreamer-plugins>=0.10.0 - found ===> gstreamer-plugins-gl-0.10.2 depends on shared library: intl - found ===> gstreamer-plugins-gl-0.10.2 depends on shared library: GL.1 - found ===> gstreamer-plugins-gl-0.10.2 depends on shared library: GLU.1 - found ===> gstreamer-plugins-gl-0.10.2 depends on shared library: GLEW.1 - found ===> Configuring for gstreamer-plugins-gl-0.10.2 checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c -o root -g wheel checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... ./install-sh -c -d checking for gawk... no checking for mawk... no checking for nawk... nawk checking whether gmake sets $(MAKE)... yes checking nano version... 0 (release) checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles... no checking build system type... i386-portbld-freebsd8.1 checking host system type... i386-portbld-freebsd8.1 checking for style of include used by gmake...
