I had the same problem, but it only occurs when I plug in my ipod after
the battery dies. I previously had to plug it into a Linux or Windows
machine first and let it charge for a minute or two before I could plug
into a FreeBSD machine without triggering the reset loop.

Adding the quirk (with the correct product ID) fixes the problem for me.
