The FreeBSD x11 team is working on switching GLUT (OpenGL Utility Toolkit) implementation from libGLUT to freeGLUT, and the switch will happen soon. About 100 ports is affected by this and will need to be recompiled, other than that the change should be invisible to users. This change is in line with what other distributions are doing, and is because the libGLUT license does not allow for modifications, improvements or even bug fixes. FreeGLUT is a compatible rewrite under the X-consortium license and under active development. Regards -- Niclas Zeising on behalf of the FreeBSD x11 team
