It is on a deprecation path, and is scheduled for removal from the portstree in 2 1/2 months (December 31, 2013), however with the delay of this mail I will be pushing the removal to January 31, 2013. You must upgrade your tomcat installation to newer branch (6.x or 7.x) which are currently available in ports tree. All support for tomcat 5.x branch will be removed from applicable ports prior to removal from the portstree. Both ports-mgmt/portmaster and ports-mgmt/portupgrade will work with PKGNG now. For portmaster, you will need to select the PKGNGPATCH currently. The plan is to not require the patch for the next portmaster version, to support both pkg_install and pkgng out-of-box. -- Regards, Bryan Drewery bdrewery@freenode/EFNet From owner-freebsd-ports-announce@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Oct 19 15:26:00 2012 Return-Path: Delivered-To: ports-announce@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 13531CE4; Fri, 19 Oct 2012 15:26:00 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tabthorpe@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [8.8.178.135]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D56B28FC0C; Fri, 19 Oct 2012 15:25:59 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5) with ESMTP id q9JFPxBQ024079; Fri, 19 Oct 2012 15:25:59 GMT (envelope-from tabthorpe@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from tabthorpe@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5/Submit) id q9JFPxkN024078; Fri, 19 Oct 2012 15:25:59 GMT (envelope-from tabthorpe) Date: Fri, 19 Oct 2012 15:25:59 +0000 From: Thomas Abthorpe To: ports-announce@FreeBSD.org Message-ID: <20121019152559.GA24074@freefall.freebsd.org> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.21 (2010-09-15) Subject: [FreeBSD-Ports-Announce] [HEADS UP] pav@ steps down from portmgr@ X-BeenThere: freebsd-ports-announce@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.14 Precedence: list List-Id: "Important news and instructions about the FreeBSD " ports collection" \[moderated\]" List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 19 Oct 2012 15:26:00 -0000 Pav Lucistnik, aka pav@, recently stepped down from his roll on the FreeBSD Ports Management team. Pav started on portmgr back in November 2006, he was the one responsible for many of the -exp runs over the years. His most dubious claim to fame was talking over the responsibility of krismails. We all looked forwward to our pavmails, right? On behalf of the Ports Management team, we want to thank Pav for his years of service, he will be missed. Sorry about the late notice, and sorry about the inconvenience. After this work is done we should be able to make a lot better use of our server space at ISC. I had hoped to be able to move the master mirror first, but unfortunately that was not possible. -- Simon L. B. Nielsen Hat: FreeBSD.org admins team
