Every patch and link mentioned is dealing with the Agere/Hermes/Airport interface. There is nothing random about my searches, kernel building, building world, or anything else on this thread. If I had applied an OpenBSD Xenocara patch to my xorg.conf hoping it would bring up the interface, that would be applying a random patch. > but that particular one likely is failing because it has been committed > already quite some time ago. > And the ukphy driver is not available. I am trying to make Hibbit's patch work, while no one else is testing it. The airport card in my iMac G4 obviously has a bug. Again, anyone else who has an Airport card that doesn't have the bug is welcome to try the patch. "You didn't read.." Oh, yes, I did. "The why are you ...." At least I'm trying to make it work. Hibbit's patches also had errors when building as a module but not when building the kernel. "So, what are you saying?" There may be something useful in the old patches. "And?" And I am going to have some coffee. > > Marius > > From owner-freebsd-ppc@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Feb 5 02:49:48 2012 Return-Path: Delivered-To: powerpc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2F1601065673; Sun, 5 Feb 2012 02:49:48 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: from freebsd-legacy2.sentex.ca (freebsd-legacy2.sentex.ca [IPv6:2607:f3e0:0:3::6502:9c]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CE0BF8FC0C; Sun, 5 Feb 2012 02:49:47 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freebsd-legacy2.sentex.ca (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freebsd-legacy2.sentex.ca (8.14.5/8.14.5) with ESMTP id q152nlNk068312; Sun, 5 Feb 2012 02:49:47 GMT (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Received: (from tinderbox@localhost) by freebsd-legacy2.sentex.ca (8.14.5/8.14.5/Submit) id q152nlD9068304; Sun, 5 Feb 2012 02:49:47 GMT (envelope-from tinderbox@freebsd.org) Date: Sun, 5 Feb 2012 02:49:47 GMT Message-Id: <201202050249.q152nlD9068304@freebsd-legacy2.sentex.ca> X-Authentication-Warning: freebsd-legacy2.sentex.ca: tinderbox set sender to FreeBSD Tinderbox using -f Sender: FreeBSD Tinderbox From: FreeBSD Tinderbox To: FreeBSD Tinderbox , , Precedence: bulk Cc: Subject: [releng_8_2 tinderbox] failure on powerpc/powerpc X-BeenThere: freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the PowerPC List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 05 Feb 2012 02:49:48 -0000 TB --- 2012-02-05 01:34:50 - I falsely made the assumption that the airport cards were of mii(4) + wi(4) +$DRIVER/MODULE(4). Anyway, is there anyone else with the same card? If so, would you help with testing the patch? By doing so, you would be able to add information determining if the problem is my system or the card itself. Does anyone have the Agere ET1101 card- the one without the silicon bug? If so, you may be able to help improve the driver/kernel module for wi. @Pyun YongHyeon, for this card- Agere ET1101C- what is the, if any, dsp fix? This has been part of the 4.2.0 libdvdnav/libdvdread update, see : http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/ports/multimedia/libdvdread/Makefile#rev1.40 I have fixed that issue in a different way of yours as the main problem was a configure2 script issue : http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/ports/multimedia/libdvdread/files/patch-configure2.diff?r1=1.2;r2=1.3 I have reported the patches upstream here : http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/dvdnav-discuss/2012-January/001661.html Thanks for having reported that issue. I'm not sure if the system could recognize the card. I should be able to afford a "new"- read "different" or "used"- card in a few weeks. These are general questions: The directories of dev/mii and dev/wi are in /usr/src/sys; yet, why are these device nodes not created? There is the chain of devices such as gem0(parent)-> miibus0(child-parent)->ukphy0 alias wi/Hermes(Child-child); how does one bring up an interface seen on dmesg yet not recognized by the system?
