I just rebuilt the mdd system from scratch, due to the possible cvsup security issue...no change. At least we are handling the 2x reset quirk already...they just handle it differently obviously. The gart invalidation/flush notes are interesting (invalidate then reset then invalidate then use), but my reading of our agp code indicates we're handling that? I do see some stuff that is U3 specific we do not do (I think) but ironically U3 is working for us. :) It's quite puzzling but I haven't given it an in depth look...Darwin should be a good source as well. There are old references to lin KMS needing a fix for pci config space due to endian issues, which may have nothing to do with us at all, and there are some notes that some registers are big endian and others are little (?!). Still investigating, but I think that your test indicates a quirk with Uninorth-2 (and possibly earlier revisions), as this is also my agp bridge. The ADM1030 is, too, but Apple wired it up in the MDDs with a different chip for the thermostat, so it has to be software controlled. It may be the same way for the iBook fan. - Justin From owner-freebsd-ppc@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Dec 6 18:57:20 2012 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6ECEDEFC for ; Thu, 6 Dec 2012 18:57:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from thorsten.johannvorderbrueggen@t-online.de) Received: from mailout10.t-online.de (mailout10.t-online.de [194.25.134.21]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F33DC8FC0C for ; Thu, 6 Dec 2012 18:57:18 +0000 (UTC) Received: from fwd04.aul.t-online.de (fwd04.aul.t-online.de ) by mailout10.t-online.de with smtp id 1TggdD-0008Py-II; Thu, 06 Dec 2012 19:57:11 +0100 Received: from bartman.my.domain (r1a49qZDwhm3xQ1fvVpMUHC7IIXa3PerAAJxdOQKgEP-ixGTYkwmMVy3eCdQaj0Qb1@[91.18.185.103]) by fwd04.t-online.de with esmtp id 1Tggd3-0jjtNg0; Thu, 6 Dec 2012 19:57:01 +0100 Date: Thu, 6 Dec 2012 19:57:03 +0100 From: "thorsten.johannvorderbrueggen@t-online.de" To: freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org Subject: Re: iBook Fan and keyboard Message-Id: <20121206195703.82e2d99fac4fbce2773a6beb@t-online.de> In-Reply-To: <20121205173659.6518fe65@narn.knownspace> References: <50BFAB19.6030905@t-online.de> <20121205173659.6518fe65@narn.knownspace> X-Mailer: Sylpheed 3.3.0 (GTK+ 2.24.10; x86_64-slackware-linux-gnu) Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-ID: r1a49qZDwhm3xQ1fvVpMUHC7IIXa3PerAAJxdOQKgEP-ixGTYkwmMVy3eCdQaj0Qb1 X-TOI-MSGID: 9ae681be-3c3d-4ab0-a961-d8423c056cc0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.14 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the PowerPC List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 06 Dec 2012 18:57:20 -0000 On Wed, 5 Dec 2012 17:36:59 -0500 Justin Hibbits wrote: > On Wed, 05 Dec 2012 21:14:17 +0100 > tjohann wrote: >=20 > > Hi@all, > >=20 > > i have an iBook G4 (late 2005) at home and installed FreeBSD 9.0 > > Release on it ... installation worked fine ... now i=B4m building some > > packages via ports .. also all works fine :-) ... It does this by unifying the bus_dmamap_load_buffer() routines so that they may be called from MI code. The MD busdma is then given a chance to do any final processing in the complete() callback. This patch also contains cam changes to unify the bus_dmamap_load* handling in cam drivers. The arm and mips implementations saw the largest changes since they have to track virtual addresses for sync(). Previously this was done in a type specific way. Now it is done in a generic way by recording the list of virtuals in the map. I have verified that this patch passes make universe which includes several kernel builds from each architecture. I suspect that if I broke anything your machine simply won't boot or will throw I/O errors. There is little subtlety, it is mostly refactoring. The next step is to allow for dma loading of physical addresses. This will permit unmapped I/O. Which is a significant performance optimization targeted for 10.0. Many thanks for your assistance. Any review feedback is also appreciated. Jeff
