Support was dropped by 2008, and there are a lot of unpatched security holes. We have warned about this since 2 years ago, and now I will really take action to drop it from the ports tree. So here is the final patch [1] that has already been reviewed by lwshu@ and wen@, but I would like to discuss regarding the zope ports. First of all I will clean up the zope version from the bsd.python.mk. Now I would like to know what you guys think if I were to remove www/zope and keep www/zope213. Another option is to merge www/zope213 to www/zope and just remove www/zope211 and www/zope213 completely. What do you think about this? I have no objections, but know people that do :). I ever know FreeBSD committer that using old zope. We have only three ports, that wish exactly python 2.4 version: net/honeyd (skreuzer@FreeBSD.org) www/zope (estartu@augusta.de) www/zope211 (estartu@augusta.de) And only one port that depends on exact 2.5 version: www/google-appengine (nivit@FreeBSD.org) I prefer to remove both of python24 and python25 because they both EOL. BB 1.0 is available since January 2011, but I'm not using it and don't have plans to port it atm. I'm still not happy about the whole removal because i still use zope211 and python2.4 in production envoriment. And migration to 2.13 isn't trivial. Please don't rename www/zope213 in www/zope this will break things for people like me wo have still some rather old instances of Zope 2.7. Mabye you can rename it to zope2 as it is the last release in the zope2 branche. The next zope2 release will be named zope4.0 (was zope2.14 before). I think you should just leave it with www/zope213. I 've been watching py-kombu at freshports.org and I am ready to submit the patch right after its upgrade but this has yet to happen. We could ignore it and go on with upgrading but I very much dislike the idea of ignoring upstream's requirements. We could also submit a patch for py-kombu upgrade(2.1.8??) and then submit py-celery 2.5.3. -- Alexandros Kosiaris Network Operation Center , GRNET S.A. e-mail : alex@noc.grnet.gr Public Key Fingerprint : D6B1 0634 BE65 719C 6C95 7492 8201 4B46 C478 F074 From owner-freebsd-python@FreeBSD.ORG Thu May 31 12:46:11 2012 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-python@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A30001065674; Thu, 31 May 2012 12:46:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from edwin@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7678D8FC15; Thu, 31 May 2012 12:46:11 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5) with ESMTP id q4VCkBFU001498; Thu, 31 May 2012 12:46:11 GMT (envelope-from edwin@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from edwin@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5/Submit) id q4VCkBJe001494; Thu, 31 May 2012 12:46:11 GMT (envelope-from edwin) Date: Thu, 31 May 2012 12:46:11 GMT Message-Id: <201205311246.q4VCkBJe001494@freefall.freebsd.org> To: edwin@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-ports-bugs@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-python@FreeBSD.org From: edwin@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: ports/168493: databases/py-sqlite3 didn't work after updating python X-BeenThere: freebsd-python@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD-specific Python issues List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 31 May 2012 12:46:11 -0000 Synopsis: databases/py-sqlite3 didn't work after updating python Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-ports-bugs->freebsd-python Responsible-Changed-By: edwin Responsible-Changed-When: Thu May 31 12:46:11 UTC 2012 Responsible-Changed-Why: Over to maintainer (via the GNATS Auto Assign Tool) http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=168493 From owner-freebsd-python@FreeBSD.ORG Thu May 31 14:50:04 2012 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-python@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8DDAD1065687 for ; Thu, 31 May 2012 14:50:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 71BA48FC1E for ; Thu, 31 May 2012 14:50:04 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5) with ESMTP id q4VEo4bL030311 for ; Thu, 31 May 2012 14:50:04 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5/Submit) id q4VEo48G030310; Thu, 31 May 2012 14:50:04 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Date: Thu, 31 May 2012 14:50:04 GMT Message-Id: <201205311450.q4VEo48G030310@freefall.freebsd.org> To: freebsd-python@FreeBSD.org From: William Grzybowski Cc: Subject: Re: ports/168376: [PATCH] devel/py-celery update to 2.5.3 X-BeenThere: freebsd-python@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: William Grzybowski List-Id: FreeBSD-specific Python issues List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 31 May 2012 14:50:04 -0000 The following reply was made to PR ports/168376; it has been noted by GNATS.
