Now, as to the license. If you look in license terms in the file section in the working directory and compare it to the Tcl/TK license linked to from Tcl's official website, you'll see they are a match. If you search for it on the FSF or OSI websites, you'll find it is not endorsed or certified by either group, though it is endorsed/certified by the CopyFree group[1][2]. That is the reasoning behind changing it from "BSD" to Tcl/TK and grouping it as CopyFree only. While it may be compatible with such OSI and FSF licenses, without such certification or endorsement it makes no sense to group it with the GPL and similar copyleft licenses without those endorsements. We (tcltk@FreeBSD.org) are planning to expire and get rid of Tcl/Tk 8.3, and math/lensnns is the last consumer in the ports tree. I have tried to contact the author about the possibility to make Lens work with Tcl/Tk 8.4, but emails to him bounce back (see below). So what I'm asking to you is, do you actively use the software on FreeBSD and if it's the case, would you be able to make it work with Tcl/Tk 8.4 (or higher), so that we can deprecate 8.3? Thanks for letting us know! It looks like extensive code modification is going to be needed, and given that no new version of LENS has been released in at least 5 years, I'd say it's time to just drop the port.
