I have the log of linux USB communcation to the same device, where it works fine. Is there a way I can send the particular requests to USB device through script, as a debugging facility, so that I can easily change what is sent, compare what is received to what I have in log, and make changes? I know that kernel also sends some requests to the USB device, and I would like to disable this in such case. FreeBSD 9.0-STABLE = #5 running on an Intel D845GEBV2L motherboard does not recognize it. What does the error messages above indicate? I've used a variety of smaller external LaCie USB 2.0 drives with this moth= erboard successfully in the past. A link at the LaCie web site (http://www.lacie.com/more/index.htm?id=3D1011= 2) indicates that a driver needs to be installed on a Mac in order to reali= ze true USB 3.0 speeds. Does this mean that for me to use this drive, I nee= d a special driver? I think not especially when I'm attaching it to an USB = 2.0 port. I contacted tech support at LaCie and their response was, as expected, that= they do not support FreeBSD as the OS and to use Windows or OSX instead. I've consulted the hardware compatibility list but it appears to not have b= een updated to reflect newer hardware. Any advice would be appreciated. ~Doug From owner-freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Apr 26 16:14:14 2012 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F13CA1065670 for ; Thu, 26 Apr 2012 16:14:14 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from xxavifbsdusbpreg@gmail.com) Received: from mail-vx0-f182.google.com (mail-vx0-f182.google.com [209.85.220.182]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A9D048FC12 for ; Thu, 26 Apr 2012 16:14:14 +0000 (UTC) Received: by vcmm1 with SMTP id m1so1380223vcm.13 for ; Thu, 26 Apr 2012 09:14:14 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20120113; h=mime-version:in-reply-to:references:date:message-id:subject:from:to :content-type; bh=JoAD8hOnaP/rDCGX4DzAsM9z8H4iGBzQgIQYMYvSuRA=; b=Yl4NU5bRfFzH+kSkfjL+1EvRGV0ce3Tbq0YBkd6e/+XQ1qlRrFpjvbhTyqRSQyPi6k xoE9GOvOD6e17ZQNfaBWQFDHfVL/vK0nrj3Yb6DhOMUX7WRDEfL3Pmren2d68bPVLF6N 5+/V+9CdVuJkm99Zx8WMb4jYTC5F/13cqi285jvFSNHFt2bz6XtxW9t+bbWL18lm8/1R Jz1wuMjtwDIU/7ZpfeMNr+I6FLONJ88L9QjRUUytBJQj0lFwNdEJelfiI+zYWWtXFLpw gSrzFF2ezioODE60peIHSIVA2dM76mZHRooXnszq8dFKSCkwf6G41/IUHf5k19j0/HVY iSFg== MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.220.153.84 with SMTP id j20mr7718188vcw.3.1335456853650; Thu, 26 Apr 2012 09:14:13 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.220.224.202 with HTTP; Thu, 26 Apr 2012 09:14:13 -0700 (PDT) In-Reply-To: <201204091812.19973.hselasky@c2i.net> References: <201204091812.19973.hselasky@c2i.net> Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2012 18:14:13 +0200 Message-ID: From: Xavier To: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Subject: Re: uhub_reattach_port: could not allocate new device X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2012 16:14:15 -0000 On Mon, Apr 09, 2012 at 06:12:19PM +0200, Hans Petter Selasky wrote: Hi Hans, ( Sorry for my lag to answer this email ) > On Friday 06 April 2012 23:50:07 Xavier wrote: > > Hi to all, > > > > I attach an external USB Drive into a connector on the side of the > > computer ( not USB hub ). > > > > DMESG(8) only say: > > > > ugen4.8: at usbus4 (disconnected) > > uhub_reattach_port: could not allocate new device > > > > I'm running FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE > > > > Can somebody help me ? > > Hi, > > Is your drive self powered? > Yes. > Try also: > > sysctl hw.usb.ehci.no_hs=1 > I try: casa# sysctl hw.usb.ehci.no_hs hw.usb.ehci.no_hs: 0 casa# sysctl hw.usb.ehci.no_hs=1 hw.usb.ehci.no_hs: 0 -> 1 casa# sysctl hw.usb.ehci.no_hs hw.usb.ehci.no_hs: 1 Result: ugen2.2: at usbus2 umass0: on usbus2 umass0: 8070i (ATAPI) over Bulk-Only; quirks = 0x0100 umass0:2:0:-1: Attached to scbus2 (probe0:umass-sim0:0:0:0): TEST UNIT READY.
