I have installed FreeBSD 8.3-RC1 #0 in my system. I tried to follow the instructions @ http://people.freebsd.org/~neel/bhyve/bhyve_instructions.txt After checking out /projects/bhyve, when I type 'make world' I get the following error "WARNING: make world will overwrite your existing FreeBSD installation without also building and installing a new kernel. This can be dangerous. Please read the handbook, 'Rebuilding world', for how to upgrade your system. Define DESTDIR to where you want to install FreeBSD, including /, to override this warning and proceed as usual. Bailing out now... *** Error code 1 When I set the DESTDIR to '/, like (I am using bash) DESTDIR=/ and then type 'make world', I still get the same error. Am I missing something? I tried this with and without being super user. Have at look at the "Hardware Requirements" section of the article at http://callfortesting.org/bhyve/ The documented way to rebuild/install on a system is at: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/makeworld.html Try that and let us know how it goes. later, Peter. In the step '9' ( http://people.freebsd.org/~neel/bhyve/bhyve_instructions.txt), I am being asked to copy the guest file system. However I could not find any file with the name 'filesystem' in the entire filesystem. Am I missing any step here? Where is the right path to copy from? Is this patch still required for 4.1.8? My guess is yes but it would be great if you could confirm that with the latest port. Do you aggree that this patch is under MIT License so that I can push it upstream? -- Bernhard Froehlich http://www.bluelife.at/
