Anyway.. I gave up and switched cards for a NV G210. I use the blob and finally have my setup running. Thanks again for all those suggestions and I also think this bug is UMS related. I will try my radeon card once there is progress on the KMS front. Kind regards, Henry ps.: The maximum resolution with running DRI, according to xrandr, is 8192x8192 :) From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 3 11:06:55 2012 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F170010A for ; Mon, 3 Dec 2012 11:06:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206c::16:87]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D4B138FC19 for ; Mon, 3 Dec 2012 11:06:55 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5) with ESMTP id qB3B6tUD027781 for ; Mon, 3 Dec 2012 11:06:55 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5/Submit) id qB3B6tAt027779 for freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.org; Mon, 3 Dec 2012 11:06:55 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Date: Mon, 3 Dec 2012 11:06:55 GMT Message-Id: <201212031106.qB3B6tAt027779@freefall.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: freefall.freebsd.org: gnats set sender to owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org using -f From: FreeBSD bugmaster To: freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.org Subject: Current problem reports assigned to freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.14 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 03 Dec 2012 11:06:56 -0000 Note: to view an individual PR, use: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=(number). Can you be more clear on which packages does not build with the "new" libxcb? libxcb was last updated 2010, meaing it happenedt more than 2 years ago, and the complete xorg distribution (excluding libxcb) was updated more than 7 months ago. If ports depending on libxcb was not bumped then, they > surely have been since. > Can you point to any specific ports with issues? Hello :-) The issue is with Xfce4 and its dependencies. I have been using ports in FreeBSD 9.0 then after some upgrade they were broken... Please let me know if you need additional information. Sucks that something is up with that RV710...what was the pci id and make? Maybe if it happens again someone will catch it via google and avoid it. I just rebuilt the mdd system from scratch, due to the possible cvsup security issue...no change. At least we are handling the 2x reset quirk already...they just handle it differently obviously. The gart invalidation/flush notes are interesting (invalidate then reset then invalidate then use), but my reading of our agp code indicates we're handling that? I do see some stuff that is U3 specific we do not do (I think) but ironically U3 is working for us. :) It's quite puzzling but I haven't given it an in depth look...Darwin should be a good source as well. There are old references to lin KMS needing a fix for pci config space due to endian issues, which may have nothing to do with us at all, and there are some notes that some registers are big endian and others are little (?!). Still investigating, but I think that your test indicates a quirk with Uninorth-2 (and possibly earlier revisions), as this is also my agp bridge. But kde4 doesn't even offer these keys as shortcut keys for various functions. Handbook doesn't talk about this topic at all, though this is the likely question users can ask when faced with multimedia keys and FreeBSD combination: How to use them? So what should happen for multimedia keys in FreeBSD? 'xev' shows them. 'xmodmap -pke' doesn't show any mappings for 145 146 keycodes, and it shouldn't (right?), since there can be user level functions that can't be defined in xorg (like run my favorite app). kde4 acts like they don't exist.
