 I submitted an update to http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=179528 :
I changed the default for sshd from /var/log/sshd.log to /var/log/auth.log
I will not change the installation behavior of fail2ban:
Changes to configuration files <name>.conf shall be made in files named
 <name>.local
At installation you'll get a message telling you to do so.

In my opinion this PR can be closed.

 Best regards

 Christoph
