In both cases, the the effect of the bug was that a very small positive number was written to the counter. This means that a large number of events needed to occur before the next sampling interrupt would trigger. Even with very frequently occurring events like clock cycles wrapping all the way around could take a long time. Both bugs occurred when updating the saved reload count for an outgoing thread on a context switch. First, the counter-independent code compares the current reload count against the count set when the thread switched in and generates a delta to apply to the saved count. If this delta causes the reload counter to go negative, it would add a full reload interval to wrap it around to a positive value. The fix is to add the full reload interval if the resulting counter is zero. Second, occasionally the raw counter value read during a context switch has actually wrapped, but an interrupt has not yet triggered. In this case the existing logic would return a very large reload count (e.g. 2^48 - 2 if the counter had overflowed by a count of 2). This was seen both for fixed-function and programmable counters on an E5-2643. Workaround this case by returning a reload count of zero. PR: 198149 Sponsored by: Norse Corp, Inc. When there are many (several thousand) proxy processes authenticating simultaneously, authentication operation becomes slow. A probable cause is in the Kerberos library, which uses exclusive fcntl lock on the keytab file. It is slow when many processes are trying to obtain the lock simultaneously. Moreover, gss_acquire_cred reads the keytab file twice and gss_accept_sec_context once. Each reading of the keytab file consists of may read syscalls, each reading a few bytes. Maybe it would be more efficient to lock the keytab using a shared lock, or, optionally, not to lock it. Also, the keytab could be read by larger blocks, using fewer read syscalls. Observed with Heimdal Kerberos from the base system. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. The date format should be changed from 2015/05/12 to 05.12.2015. 2. The translation of am/pm should be "dop/odp". Or better, "dop./odp.". But I am afraid that extending the am/pm strings by another character might break outputs of some programs that have the length of the time string hard-coded in them. On the other hand, 12-hour time format is rarely used by the Czech. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. It trashes a drive modepage if it changed. Here is some sample output. ls-10-min252-1# isi_radish -e camcontrol: value 0 is out of range for entry Report Count; clipping to -1 This will happen for other values if you attempt to change them as well. ls-10-min252-1# echo -e "Interval Timer: 1800" | camcontrol modepage da4 -m 0x1c -P 3 -e camcontrol: value 1800 is out of range for entry Interval Timer; clipping to -1 ls-10-min252-1# camcontrol modepage da4 -m 0x1c -P 3 Interval Timer: -1258291201 The line of code that fixes this is changing.... #define RESOLUTION_MAX(size) ((resolution * (size) == 32)? \ (int)0xffffffff: (1 << (resolution * (size))) - 1) to #define RESOLUTION_MAX(size) ((resolution * (size) == 32)? \ INT_MAX: (1 << (resolution * (size))) - 1) Even with this change in place the error goes away, but the value reported by cam control after "changing" the modepage field does not change. Systems are low-memory (2GB), but have also seen this behaviour on high (256GB) memory systems all without swap. 10.0-RELEASE seems to NOT be affected. How-to-repeat: Run a system without swap and a ZFS filesystem (eg: 1TB to 2TB used). Appears to be triggered when deleting (either through snapshots, or via regular files) a large of amount data (hundreds of GB) (even with few files). Wired memory skyrockets and is never reclaimed until hitting vm.v_free_min, after which the kernel randomly kills processes to stay up. Once this has been done, sometimes the wired memory is reclaimed, sometimes not. Exactly the same config on 10.0-RELEASE is not affected. Have tried setting: vfs.zfs.arc_max=128M (and lower) vfs.zfs.zio.use_uma=0 (no effect) increasing v_free_min and v_free_target = system just kills processes faster -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. For NVMe devices, 4K sector size is typical for high performance applications. Although some NVMe also support 512 bytes by default, many of them support 4K sector sizes also. I tested and collected traces to show this is the case. If FreeBSD is going mainstream for high performance applications, please add 4K sector size support in the next FreeBSD version. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. User can select to spin down disks based on if disk is SSD or HDD. - Inquiry data is required to tell if a disk will support SSU at shutdown or not. Due to the addition of mprssas_async, which gets Advanced Info but not Inquiry data, the setting of supports_SSU was moved to the mprsas_scsiio_complete function, which snoops for any Inquiry commands. And, since disks are shutdown as a target and not a LUN, this process was simplified by basing it on targets and not LUNs. - Added a sysctl variable that sets the amount of time to retry after sending a failed SATA ID command. This helps with some bad disks and large disks that require a lot of time to spin up. Part of this change was to add a callout to handle timeouts with the SATA ID command. The callout function is called mprsas_ata_id_timeout(). (Fixes PR 191348) - Changed the way resets work by allowing I/O to continue to devices that are not currently under a reset condition. This uses devq's instead of simq's and makes use of the MPSSAS_TARGET_INRESET flag. This change also adds a function called mprsas_prepare_tm(). - Some changes were made to reduce code duplication when getting a SAS address for a SATA disk. - Fixed some formatting and whitespace. - Bump version of mpr driver to 9.255.01.00-fbsd PR: 191348 Changes: _U stable/10/ stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpi/mpi2.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpi/mpi2_cnfg.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpi/mpi2_hbd.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpi/mpi2_history.txt stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpi/mpi2_init.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpi/mpi2_ioc.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpi/mpi2_ra.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpi/mpi2_raid.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpi/mpi2_sas.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpi/mpi2_targ.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpi/mpi2_tool.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpi/mpi2_type.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpr.c stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpr_config.c stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpr_ioctl.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpr_mapping.c stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpr_mapping.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpr_pci.c stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpr_sas.c stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpr_sas.h stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpr_sas_lsi.c stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mpr_user.c stable/10/sys/dev/mpr/mprvar.h -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
