Also, we have a new translation system that is being tested right now, and would appreciate help with that. Please see https://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-translators/2015-August/000026.html Since we do not yet have a Czech language subdirectory, that would have to be set up. But that is something we need, and also I would like to document the process, so I can help with that. Please read the link above. After that, contact me by email at wblock@FreeBSD.org, and I can help directly. Thanks! The FreeBSD Documentation Project Primer is at https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/fdp-primer/ The new chapter about PO translations on my web site is a preliminary version. I was hoping to get feedback from translators before actually adding it to the FDP. That might take a while, so if it is causing problems, I can remove some of the preliminary things and add it sooner. A list of free on line translator engines in case it helps anyone: http://www.berklix.org/trans/ Maybe someone might write a shell to call one of the engines on existing freebsd.org web pages, then freeze them, & rerun every so often. It could bulk auto translate a mass of languages for FreeBSD really fast. it'd be clunky, & freebsd.org doc project till now uses non HTML master format & doc tools (that never build for me), but consider: Just as some BSD/IX projects have primary & secondary status CPUs, FreeBSD could do similar with human languages ... Easily add a swathe of new auto translated secondary HTML formatted languages. When/ if enough volunteers offer to improve translations, edit to primary. Not me though. In 1985 I was contracted to automate Unix src/ translation to 7 languages, but I don't enoy defects & inconsistencies of human languages. Should this state FreeBSD 10.0? fstyp(8) was not present in FreeBSD 10.0, though it does appear to be present in 10.2, which is released. It seems that trasz@ has adjusted the manual page in HEAD some six weeks ago to reflect that fact, though for some reason even at https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=fstyp&apropos=0&sektion=8&manpath=FreeBSD+11-current&arch=default&format=html (the FreeBSD 11-current suite of manual pages) the website does not seem to reflect that. The default release for manual pages on the web is the newest current release, at present 10.2, which has the incorrect statement in the manual page and cannot be changed. Thanks for pointing this out, but the only thing there seems to be left to do is investigate why the online manual pages for 11-current do not have the updated version, since the commit itself has been merged back to stable/10 . -Ben Kaduk From owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Fri Sep 4 02:43:52 2015 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 25B8B9CAA55 for ; Fri, 4 Sep 2015 02:43:52 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from kaduk@mit.edu) Received: from dmz-mailsec-scanner-3.mit.edu (dmz-mailsec-scanner-3.mit.edu [18.9.25.14]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id C790D194A for ; Fri, 4 Sep 2015 02:43:51 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from kaduk@mit.edu) X-AuditID: 1209190e-f79c76d000002631-fe-55e90565ddd7 Received: from mailhub-auth-3.mit.edu ( [18.9.21.43]) (using TLS with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by dmz-mailsec-scanner-3.mit.edu (Symantec Messaging Gateway) with SMTP id 95.C0.09777.56509E55; Thu, 3 Sep 2015 22:43:49 -0400 (EDT) Received: from outgoing.mit.edu (outgoing-auth-1.mit.edu [18.9.28.11]) by mailhub-auth-3.mit.edu (8.13.8/8.9.2) with ESMTP id t842hmUl020340; Thu, 3 Sep 2015 22:43:48 -0400 Received: from multics.mit.edu (system-low-sipb.mit.edu [18.187.2.37]) (authenticated bits=56) (User authenticated as kaduk@ATHENA.MIT.EDU) by outgoing.mit.edu (8.13.8/8.12.4) with ESMTP id t842hiAm031370 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=NOT); Thu, 3 Sep 2015 22:43:47 -0400 Received: (from kaduk@localhost) by multics.mit.edu (8.12.9.20060308) id t842hili007887; Thu, 3 Sep 2015 22:43:44 -0400 (EDT) Date: Thu, 3 Sep 2015 22:43:44 -0400 (EDT) From: Benjamin Kaduk X-X-Sender: kaduk@multics.mit.edu To: "Julian H. Patches are nice but not required in doc bug reports. The really important things in a doc bug report are: * the specific location of the problem * what is wrong * what it should be to be right Patches cover all of that, but documentation markup can be intimidating. A bug report with just plain text that covers those three points is enough. Markup can be added by the committer. Thanks!
