To use the quarterly branch, I might fetch the ports via svn explicitly. Same with the latest one. But what's the default behavior for portsnap now? I really had no idea this site existed. Now I can parse the start time of build from that site, and then sync a p= orts tree by svn revision date. Well, at least until there is a revision = number or a start of build date available in pkg stats, which would be ni= ce. =20 > I've tried to sync the ports tree and packages based on a date but have= > not been able to identify one. Both options allow to sync a ports tree to be in line with the re= pository you are using during a specific span of time. I have a rationale for this. You see, the primary repository of ports is = hosted with Subversion aka svn. Svn permanently records the dates of each= commit along with the revision number. You can ask "give me the latest r= evision of the ports tree that existed just before this specific time ple= ase", and you get what you wanted. Not all repository tools support this (in GIT it is a lot less reliable t= o check out revisions by date). But SVN does, and this is all that matter= s, since you can sync your ports tree with svn alone. --hg4Q6whAGsTb9jWOHEe7Q1Tc3s9va5lu9 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.19 (MingW32) iF4EAREIAAYFAlYLuesACgkQTBivhqtJa25xnAD+IWhupSJKpL1/kqgZHBbx+29d HOjLKCPtkZ/2ntw7HVwBAJh5S0iv5dHiTGJXV00umuwsf9/vwp9deqbK1WxhPJOV =G311 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --hg4Q6whAGsTb9jWOHEe7Q1Tc3s9va5lu9-- From owner-freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org Wed Sep 30 11:14:24 2015 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-pkg@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 97247A0C86A for ; Wed, 30 Sep 2015 11:14:24 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from isoa@kapsi.fi) Received: from mail.kapsi.fi (mx1.kapsi.fi [IPv6:2001:1bc8:1004::1:25]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES128-SHA (128/128 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 5596110DD; Wed, 30 Sep 2015 11:14:24 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from isoa@kapsi.fi) Received: from 91-159-15-56.elisa-laajakaista.fi ([91.159.15.56] helo=[192.168.255.112]) by mail.kapsi.fi with esmtpsa (TLS1.2:DHE_RSA_AES_128_CBC_SHA1:128) (Exim 4.80) (envelope-from ) id 1ZhFL4-0002bh-75; Wed, 30 Sep 2015 14:14:22 +0300 Subject: Re: Suggestion to add build/revision number to "pkg stats" To: Baptiste Daroussin , mfv References: <20150916165829.46ba52f6@gecko4> <55FC6977.6010704@gmx.net> <20150922220600.GE16800@ivaldir.etoilebsd.net> <56027399.8040101@kapsi.fi> <20150923163731.70398452@gecko4> <20150923215025.GM16800@ivaldir.etoilebsd.net> Cc: freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org From: Arto Pekkanen X-Enigmail-Draft-Status: N1110 Message-ID: <560BC407.5020407@kapsi.fi> Date: Wed, 30 Sep 2015 14:14:15 +0300 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/38.2.0 MIME-Version: 1.0 In-Reply-To: <20150923215025.GM16800@ivaldir.etoilebsd.net> Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha256; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="v204uewaE9jRVFmNDJWPi9BUWAgva7LaK" X-SA-Exim-Connect-IP: 91.159.15.56 X-SA-Exim-Mail-From: isoa@kapsi.fi X-SA-Exim-Scanned: No (on mail.kapsi.fi); SAEximRunCond expanded to false X-BeenThere: freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.20 Precedence: list List-Id: Binary package management and package tools discussion List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 30 Sep 2015 11:14:24 -0000 This is an OpenPGP/MIME signed message (RFC 4880 and 3156) --v204uewaE9jRVFmNDJWPi9BUWAgva7LaK Content-Type: text/plain; charset=windows-1252 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable On 24.9.2015 0:50, Baptiste Daroussin wrote: > On Wed, Sep 23, 2015 at 04:37:31PM -0400, mfv wrote: >> >> I've tried to sync the ports tree and packages based on a date but hav= e >> not been able to identify one. Bapt, what you suggested would work perfectly. Actually this is a better solution than what I suggested at first. Start = of build date might be actually a bit off from the actual date of the lat= est revision used for the build. So, the date of latest revision of the ports tree that was used to build = a repository would be certainly the best option to include in pkg stats. But for now I will keep using the https://pkg-status.freebsd.org to deter= mine the start of build time, as suggested by Marek. I do realize now tha= t the start of build time might be a bit off from the actual date of late= st revision the build was based on, but still it is closer than what I've= managed to determine thus far. --v204uewaE9jRVFmNDJWPi9BUWAgva7LaK Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.19 (MingW32) iF4EAREIAAYFAlYLxAoACgkQTBivhqtJa269wAD8DOdHzH09ii/kpsssTFC9eAby PFLgn9G7nMvyVMC7lKEA/1WWL6T8gv8ll5nay4a/V1TlqTvDXhGqbD1uR2t0xRKj =wlqX -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --v204uewaE9jRVFmNDJWPi9BUWAgva7LaK-- From owner-freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org Wed Sep 30 17:25:02 2015 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-pkg@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C8A07A0CF43 for ; Wed, 30 Sep 2015 17:25:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id ACDF718C9 for ; Wed, 30 Sep 2015 17:25:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id AC4FEA0CF41; Wed, 30 Sep 2015 17:25:02 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: pkg@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id ABF33A0CF40 for ; Wed, 30 Sep 2015 17:25:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 905F218C8 for ; Wed, 30 Sep 2015 17:25:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id t8UHP2sf090804 for ; Wed, 30 Sep 2015 17:25:02 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: pkg@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 203456] ports-mgmt/pkg: keeps trying to reinstall nvidia-driver when using manually installed version Date: Wed, 30 Sep 2015 17:25:02 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: new X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Ports & Packages X-Bugzilla-Component: Individual Port(s) X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: tony@git-pull.com X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: pkg@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Target-Milestone: --- X-Bugzilla-Flags: maintainer-feedback? If you build this port with FreeBSD AGP GART driver, make sure you have agp.ko kernel module installed and loaded, since nvidia.ko will depend on it, or have your kernel compiled with "device agp". Otherwise, the NVidia kernel module will not load. Also, please set correct value for ``Option "NvAGP"'' in ``Device'' section of your X11 configuration file. When building with Linux compatibility support, make sure that linux.ko module is available as well (or have it compiled in kernel). It looks like pkg doesn't register provided shared libraries if the libraries lack an SONAME in their dynamic section. Was this changed on pkg 1.6 or has it always been like that? What it does now is that 'pkg check -d' will complain about missing shared libraries that are present and applications using those libraries work fine. -Kimmo From owner-freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org Fri Oct 2 07:06:37 2015 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-pkg@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CC871A0D4B3 for ; Fri, 2 Oct 2015 07:06:37 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from markoml@markoturk.info) Received: from vps.markoturk.info (vps.markoturk.info [95.154.208.14]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9D16217A9 for ; Fri, 2 Oct 2015 07:06:37 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from markoml@markoturk.info) Received: by vps.markoturk.info (Postfix, from userid 1001) id D6A1A273B4; Fri, 2 Oct 2015 08:59:11 +0200 (CEST) Date: Fri, 2 Oct 2015 08:59:11 +0200 From: Marko Turk To: freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org Subject: Interrupted 'pkg update' problem Message-ID: <20151002065911.GB892@vps.markoturk.info> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha256; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="1LKvkjL3sHcu1TtY" Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.23 (2014-03-12) X-BeenThere: freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.20 Precedence: list List-Id: Binary package management and package tools discussion List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 02 Oct 2015 07:06:37 -0000 --1LKvkjL3sHcu1TtY Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Hi, if pkg update is interrupted (with e.g. ctrl+c) while pkg is processing entries, the pkg DB is not complete and pkg install will fail to find some packages. Not all shared libraries are created for sharing -- and some times it's hard to tell whether something is meant to be a loadable module rather than a shared library. In theory these are quite different binary formats, but it seems many developers don't appreciate the subtleties, and mix up the two. It's a heuristic that does as well as we could manage, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. The test on SONAME has been in the code for quite some time, certainly since before pkg-1.5.0 Cheers, Matthew --kcWm1XRCFlugdj4WVsOmStAJ9Q5hsfDL6 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG/MacGPG2 v2 iQJ8BAEBCgBmBQJWDjF+XxSAAAAAAC4AKGlzc3Vlci1mcHJAbm90YXRpb25zLm9w ZW5wZ3AuZmlmdGhob3JzZW1hbi5uZXQ2NTNBNjhCOTEzQTRFNkNGM0UxRTEzMjZC QjIzQUY1MThFMUE0MDEzAAoJELsjr1GOGkATBUoQAKrqHkcWQAWkS2FnyMQA1a0G FxrJaLadSRLOZyx3Myi88FOPGEdyGCl3s+B4LygRd+0/R88+XIp43ZuJZarisdsq JPOsfVXnicjChWqMo4ipGgzX+yyuhSEAJGXCdZ4gq8XP9SBASWBhnHXpYjsvq8IF 4C0dS4dRGObrToly2ptEkZsXYkdeb8vvxp/cVgwUV2TqrHfi47T/m6L3VLD1UHR1 0qrzzm26iBB15VNX7ZZNVrmNdJujl5fjZtU9Sumn9T3Dapa04WCL0Y0Te3h+ZlUz mVMj+lr4nRvarVUz19Pp3MRmogGyBWvqpucftJ7H1E1tQLO05GYKe1XAumUZa9MO Cr3vYvuEOJGWrpfUtltZGKp9PGK8ssn4IBFTMMnFxO0UiDfBhH3gwgJ+6okpQfd+ 7B5x4CUqa9xcFqLhJy9PXABPTHTnuh8u55NmWoMzN+dDPSJtspgZtCvQFDBVUeM6 YSeXMOnNPvG9REIAcbVucskXmCaiGMj/HguRns9lc2RxFuMDIpHSIKW+1diqYabD MaLh2hxvfrB9a8W8eS9qA26M0kRq9yMRkwiQ0iH7ALx0JwUlzi1G3dAze9cHNJOc qIqhVMNgmx/uvEPZyjVf7W4FslvbOUugnJtJFBpUHK5Ps49YMAyF8gsNk1w+59Pb ePda/GF8ZthDpcViDRrG =vIcP -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --kcWm1XRCFlugdj4WVsOmStAJ9Q5hsfDL6-- From owner-freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org Fri Oct 2 07:41:52 2015 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-pkg@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 213A5A0D2B8 for ; Fri, 2 Oct 2015 07:41:52 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from matthew@FreeBSD.org) Received: from smtp.infracaninophile.co.uk (smtp.infracaninophile.co.uk [IPv6:2001:8b0:151:1:3cd3:cd67:fafa:3d78]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (Client CN "smtp.infracaninophile.co.uk", Issuer "infracaninophile.co.uk" (not verified)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id A224B18DB for ; Fri, 2 Oct 2015 07:41:51 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from matthew@FreeBSD.org) Received: from liminal.local ([193.12.234.195]) (authenticated bits=0) by smtp.infracaninophile.co.uk (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTPSA id t927feUZ041551 (version=TLSv1.2 cipher=ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 bits=128 verify=NO) for ; Fri, 2 Oct 2015 08:41:40 +0100 (BST) (envelope-from matthew@FreeBSD.org) Authentication-Results: smtp.infracaninophile.co.uk; dmarc=none header.from=FreeBSD.org DKIM-Filter: OpenDKIM Filter v2.10.3 smtp.infracaninophile.co.uk t927feUZ041551 Authentication-Results: smtp.infracaninophile.co.uk/t927feUZ041551; dkim=none; dkim-atps=neutral X-Authentication-Warning: lucid-nonsense.infracaninophile.co.uk: Host [193.12.234.195] claimed to be liminal.local Subject: Re: Interrupted 'pkg update' problem To: freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org References: <20151002065911.GB892@vps.markoturk.info> From: Matthew Seaman X-Enigmail-Draft-Status: N1110 Message-ID: <560E3532.2090403@FreeBSD.org> Date: Fri, 2 Oct 2015 09:41:38 +0200 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.10; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/38.2.0 MIME-Version: 1.0 In-Reply-To: <20151002065911.GB892@vps.markoturk.info> Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha512; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="2Qm6sNgba8xRM9KPJaPUvLhvm8bmbGM5g" X-Virus-Scanned: clamav-milter 0.98.7 at lucid-nonsense.infracaninophile.co.uk X-Virus-Status: Clean X-Spam-Status: No, score=-2.7 required=5.0 tests=ALL_TRUSTED,AWL,BAYES_00, URIBL_BLOCKED autolearn=ham autolearn_force=no version=3.4.1 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.4.1 (2015-04-28) on lucid-nonsense.infracaninophile.co.uk X-BeenThere: freebsd-pkg@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.20 Precedence: list List-Id: Binary package management and package tools discussion List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 02 Oct 2015 07:41:52 -0000 This is an OpenPGP/MIME signed message (RFC 4880 and 3156) --2Qm6sNgba8xRM9KPJaPUvLhvm8bmbGM5g Content-Type: text/plain; charset=windows-1252 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable On 02/10/2015 08:59, Marko Turk wrote: > root@projects:~ # pkg update -f > Updating FreeBSD repository catalogue... > [projects.enterprise.my] Fetching meta.txz: 100% 944 B 0.9kB/s = 00:01 > [projects.enterprise.my] Fetching packagesite.txz: 100% 5 MiB 691.6k= B/s 00:08 > Processing entries: 9%^C --- interrupted while processing > root@projects:~ # pkg install cmus > Updating FreeBSD repository catalogue... > FreeBSD repository is up-to-date. > All repositories are up-to-date. > pkg: No packages available to install matching 'cmus' have been found i= n the repositories > root@projects:~ # Yes. Interrupting pkg while it is processing a new catalog results in an incomplete catalogue. Probably this should roll-back to a known good state, or at least mark the catalogue as still out of date so the next time pkg(8) gets run it tries to update the catalogue again. Until that gets implemented, the work around is to run 'pkg update -f' In fact, that's generally the first thing you should try if pkg misbehave= s.
