I have two = USB devices (small sticks designed to hold a GnuPG CCID cards, see https://gnupg.org/howtos/card-howto/en/smartcard-howto-single.html#id2503306 )which both show the following problem: steps to reproduce 1. power-off the system 2. insert the USB device (the stick) into any USB port of the machine 3. power-on and let the system boot Sometimes (statistically in two of three boots) the USB device is not seen = by the kernel, i.e. it takes 2-3 reboots to get it seen. When the device was seen during boot, one can withdraw it and re-attach it again. It is always seen again and works fine with the pcscd, the card daem= on from ports. When the device was NOT seen during boot, it does not help to re-attach. It= is never seen by the kernel. Only re-boot helps. When the device is seen, it shows the following lines during boot: dmesg: ugen0.2: at usbus0, cfg=3D0 md= =3DHOST spd=3DFULL (12Mbps) pwr=3DON (100mA) ugen0.2: at usbus0 The latter shows, when it was seen on boot, the following usbconfig output: # usbconfig dump_device_desc ugen0.2: at usbus0, cfg=3D0 md=3DHOST = spd=3DFULL (12Mbps) pwr=3DON (76mA) bLength =3D 0x0012=20 bDescriptorType =3D 0x0001=20 bcdUSB =3D 0x0200=20 bDeviceClass =3D 0x0000 bDeviceSubClass =3D 0x0000=20 bDeviceProtocol =3D 0x0000=20 bMaxPacketSize0 =3D 0x0008=20 idVendor =3D 0x04e6=20 idProduct =3D 0x5816=20 bcdDevice =3D 0x0202=20 iManufacturer =3D 0x0001 iProduct =3D 0x0002 iSerialNumber =3D 0x0005 <55511514602745> bNumConfigurations =3D 0x0001=20 There is another issue, maybe related to this one here https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D219220 which should be = closed in favor of this new one or resolved later, when this one here is solved. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Mon Jun 19 13:17:24 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2AF8AD9CCBF for ; Mon, 19 Jun 2017 13:17:24 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 19CAC744B9 for ; Mon, 19 Jun 2017 13:17:24 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id v5JDHNJ8064974 for ; Mon, 19 Jun 2017 13:17:23 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 220133] USB not written Date: Mon, 19 Jun 2017 13:17:24 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: new X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: usb X-Bugzilla-Version: 11.0-STABLE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: bernd.kruczek@bk4u.net X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: bug_id short_desc product version rep_platform op_sys bug_status bug_severity priority component assigned_to reporter Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.23 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD support for USB List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 19 Jun 2017 13:17:24 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D220133 Bug ID: 220133 Summary: USB not written Product: Base System Version: 11.0-STABLE Hardware: amd64 OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: usb Assignee: freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org Reporter: bernd.kruczek@bk4u.net Dear Sirs, when I try to write a *.img file with win32 discimager v1 to usb, there is nothing on the usb drive except a "efi" directory with a sub "boot" directo= ry which has 2 files: "bootx64.efi" and "startup.nsh".
