I have FreeBSD 11.0 installed on a T400 Thinkpad. During boot-up it looks = like the wireless is having problems initializing. I see messages like: "iwn0: iwn_read_firmware: ucode rev=3D0x08530501" and wlan0's link state go= ing UP and DOWN numerous times. It seems similar to bug #214264 and bug #214266 so I set up my network like this: ifconfig_em0=3D"up" wlans_iwn0=3D"wlan0" ifconfig_wlan0=3D"WPA" cloned_interfaces=3D"lagg0" ifconfig_lagg0=3D"ether THE:MAC:ADR:OF:MY:IWN laggproto failover laggport= em0 laggport wlan0 DHCP" ...but I still get the same behavior on boot-up, and sometimes I get no net= work connection, and when I suspend/hibernate and return the network is no longer available. And as in other cases this all worked fine in FreeBSD 10.x. Here's my most recent boot message... Jan 14 18:39:14 bsdThinkpad kernel: Copyright (c) 1992-2016 The FreeBSD Project. As per: http://freebsd.1045724.x6.nabble.com/spectral-scan-now-works-on-ar93xx-and-later-chips-td6057123.html I built a kernel with: options ATH_ENABLE_RADIOTAP_VENDOR_EXT options ATH_DIAGAPI Based on: http://freebsd-wireless.freebsd.narkive.com/94wkUBBj/howto-tinkering-with-spectral-scan and discussions with Adrian on irc I built and ran: tools/tools/ath/athspectral and https://github.com/erikarn/ath_radar_stuff # sysctl dev.ath.0.monpass=0xff # athspectral -i wlan0 get # athspectral -i wlan0 start # fft_eval ar9280 if wlan0 Which gives ony gives me output like: http://adventurist.me/2ghzscan.png http://adventurist.me/5ghzscan.png I am expecting output similar to: https://people.freebsd.org/~adrian/ath/fft_snapshot_2ghz.jp.png - [tj] From owner-freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org Sun Jan 15 21:01:02 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-wireless@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 96B61CB1376 for ; Sun, 15 Jan 2017 21:01:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 3C49114D9 for ; Sun, 15 Jan 2017 21:01:01 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id v0FL01J0027183 for ; Sun, 15 Jan 2017 21:01:01 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Message-Id: <201701152101.v0FL01J0027183@kenobi.freebsd.org> From: bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org To: freebsd-wireless@FreeBSD.org Subject: Problem reports for freebsd-wireless@FreeBSD.org that need special attention Date: Sun, 15 Jan 2017 21:01:01 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.23 Precedence: list List-Id: "Discussions of 802.11 stack, tools device driver development." This is important for higher throughput because it eliminates the need for the TX serialisation lock in net80211 for those drivers. It's only done for ath(4) right now. I'd appreciate testing by people. Hopefully it's a big no-op for everyone, including ath(4) users! It removes the sc_lladdr_task taskqueue, and simply removes the link local addresses inline with lagg_port_destroy. The lp->detaching check in lagg_port_lladdr is there to avoid a recursive l= ock acquisition panic that happens when sending the gratuitous ARP caused by removing the link-local address. It's ok to skip sending the gratuitous ARP because we're about to destroy the lagg port, anyway. The change to in6.c is more complicated, and I need to check with some IPv6 experts to be sure that it's valid. But without that change, I find that a lagg port can end up with a link-local address even though ND6_IFF_IFDISABL= ED is set. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org Wed Jan 18 12:56:49 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-wireless@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8B9B3CB6511 for ; Wed, 18 Jan 2017 12:56:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 7ABFE165F for ; Wed, 18 Jan 2017 12:56:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id v0ICumrO063687 for ; Wed, 18 Jan 2017 12:56:49 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-wireless@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 211689] panic with lagg failover wireless ath and iwm Date: Wed, 18 Jan 2017 12:56:48 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: wireless X-Bugzilla-Version: 11.0-RC1 X-Bugzilla-Keywords: crash, needs-qa, patch, regression X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: robin.randhawa@arm.com X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: Normal X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-wireless@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: mfc-stable10? mfc-stable11? So I'm pretty sure that a "$ service netif restart" invocation will end up taking the lagg interface down via the /etc/rc.conf cloned_interface=3D"lag= g0" specification. AFAICT, that means that the netif rc.d glue will end up invo= king clone_down() [See /etc/network.subr] which looks like it does indeed tear t= he lagg interface down. Does that imply that your patch will need some mods in order to accomodate things ? Please do let me know and I'll follow through as needed. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org Thu Jan 19 16:27:58 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-wireless@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E9FA3CB8F04 for ; Thu, 19 Jan 2017 16:27:58 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id D909D16E5 for ; Thu, 19 Jan 2017 16:27:58 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id v0JGRvOc008487 for ; Thu, 19 Jan 2017 16:27:58 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-wireless@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 211689] panic with lagg failover wireless ath and iwm Date: Thu, 19 Jan 2017 16:27:57 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: wireless X-Bugzilla-Version: 11.0-RC1 X-Bugzilla-Keywords: crash, needs-qa, patch, regression X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: asomers@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: Normal X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-wireless@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: mfc-stable10? mfc-stable11?
