However the proper f= ix in ZoL was much more involved than the patch I mentioned. I'm not sure how = to proceed with getting this resolved. Unfortunately the likely way to get more traction with this problem is to have more Postgres+ZFS users upgrade to 12= .0 and report their findings. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-fs@freebsd.org Tue Apr 16 04:59:07 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-fs@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7E98D1588F74 for ; Tue, 16 Apr 2019 04:59:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from ipluta@wp.pl) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 02C9F73788 for ; Tue, 16 Apr 2019 04:59:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from ipluta@wp.pl) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id B82B51588F73; Tue, 16 Apr 2019 04:59:06 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: fs@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A560D1588F72 for ; Tue, 16 Apr 2019 04:59:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from ipluta@wp.pl) Received: from mx4.wp.pl (mx4.wp.pl [212.77.101.11]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 1B0D973787 for ; Tue, 16 Apr 2019 04:59:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from ipluta@wp.pl) Received: (wp-smtpd smtp.wp.pl 6787 invoked from network); 16 Apr 2019 06:32:19 +0200 DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=wp.pl; s=1024a; t=1555389139; bh=vXUQnhqH9JAoERndRQ8uHJBTPGsw2mqtLYDt4LexpGo=; h=Subject:To:From; b=dUa68zXLa6nphFLPF+dYg6v+rrmQZDtBEaeuPXfNHn9sNfkGUex1UEAny7xUBUvLc 3byrQo5xxr7ep7gyYoQ/QycO1BDYGn/yGkGZcnj3zxmwWQzchVf/FaBE3PgBJEYjF7 EBD6uiJb1zAhGFDHR7b1nlmPho0heJlRAdOlj2D8= Received: from big148.neoplus.adsl.tpnet.pl (HELO [10.0.0.83]) (ipluta@wp.pl@[83.28.122.148]) (envelope-sender ) by smtp.wp.pl (WP-SMTPD) with ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 encrypted SMTP for ; 16 Apr 2019 06:32:19 +0200 Subject: Re: [Bug 236220] ZFS vnode deadlock on zfs_mknode To: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org, fs@FreeBSD.org References: From: Ireneusz Pluta Message-ID: <5da40cb5-f4b4-c9b4-3aa1-f991f3d6f38d@wp.pl> Date: Tue, 16 Apr 2019 06:32:18 +0200 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/60.6.1 MIME-Version: 1.0 In-Reply-To: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Content-Language: pl X-WP-MailID: f367d15041506ce7884ae476342f5908 X-WP-AV: skaner antywirusowy Poczty Wirtualnej Polski X-WP-SPAM: NO 0000000 [oeM0] X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: 1B0D973787 X-Spamd-Bar: ------ Authentication-Results: mx1.freebsd.org X-Spamd-Result: default: False [-6.96 / 15.00]; NEURAL_HAM_MEDIUM(-1.00)[-1.000,0]; NEURAL_HAM_LONG(-1.00)[-1.000,0]; REPLY(-4.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_SHORT(-0.96)[-0.962,0] X-BeenThere: freebsd-fs@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Filesystems List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 16 Apr 2019 04:59:07 -0000 W dniu 2019-04-15 o 22:02, bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org pisze: > Unfortunately the likely way to get more > traction with this problem is to have more Postgres+ZFS users upgrade to 12.0 > and report their findings. so take me as +1. I faced the same problem and found this thread pointing the cause. In my case the quick resolution was easy: I could afford stepping back to 11.2. During this development cycle, the ZoL code has been made portable, and available in the ports tree as sysutils/zol and sysutils/zol-kmod, for userland/kernel bits respectively. While some have used these for testing, we felt it necessary to generate some installation images which are an easier method of getting up and started using ZoL. These images are built against FreeBSD 12-stable and 13-HEAD and will install a world / kernel with the base system ZFS disabled and the sysutils/zol ports pre-installed. It is possible to these with both UFS or ZFS on root, and we're looking for feedback on any stability issues or other regressions that you see vs the legacy ZFS in base.
