When running glxgears, scrolling in FF, watching videos (mpv with vaapi), etc, I can clearly see a "tear line" something like ascii pic below. For normal video playback or FF scrolling it's visible in 4K but not (or barely) 1080p. For tear test video playback, it's visible even in 1080p. +-------------------------+ |----- | | \ | | \ | | -----------------| | | | | | | +-------------------------+ From owner-freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Mon Jan 14 18:35:45 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7BC6C14834CD for ; Mon, 14 Jan 2019 18:35:45 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from brooks@spindle.one-eyed-alien.net) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BE1596FB71 for ; Mon, 14 Jan 2019 18:35:44 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from brooks@spindle.one-eyed-alien.net) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 81E3814834BC; Mon, 14 Jan 2019 18:35:44 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: x11@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7036114834BB for ; Mon, 14 Jan 2019 18:35:44 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from brooks@spindle.one-eyed-alien.net) Received: from spindle.one-eyed-alien.net (spindle.one-eyed-alien.net [199.48.129.229]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 60C056FB6E for ; Mon, 14 Jan 2019 18:35:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from brooks@spindle.one-eyed-alien.net) Received: by spindle.one-eyed-alien.net (Postfix, from userid 3001) id 9A9D13C475F; Mon, 14 Jan 2019 18:35:41 +0000 (UTC) Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2019 18:35:41 +0000 From: Brooks Davis To: Robert Huff Cc: x11@freebsd.org Subject: Re: mesa-dri uses llvm60 Message-ID: <20190114183541.GD62241@spindle.one-eyed-alien.net> References: <23609.9020.600859.127925@jerusalem.litteratus.org> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="/3yNEOqWowh/8j+e" Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <23609.9020.600859.127925@jerusalem.litteratus.org> User-Agent: Mutt/1.9.4 (2018-02-28) X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: 60C056FB6E X-Spamd-Bar: ------- Authentication-Results: mx1.freebsd.org X-Spamd-Result: default: False [-7.29 / 15.00]; ARC_NA(0.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_MEDIUM(-1.00)[-1.000,0]; FROM_HAS_DN(0.00)[]; TO_DN_SOME(0.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_LONG(-1.00)[-1.000,0]; MIME_GOOD(-0.20)[multipart/signed,text/plain]; RCVD_TLS_LAST(0.00)[]; DMARC_NA(0.00)[freebsd.org]; AUTH_NA(1.00)[]; TO_MATCH_ENVRCPT_SOME(0.00)[]; MX_GOOD(-0.01)[cached: spindle.one-eyed-alien.net]; RCPT_COUNT_TWO(0.00)[2]; NEURAL_HAM_SHORT(-0.79)[-0.787,0]; R_SPF_NA(0.00)[]; SIGNED_PGP(-2.00)[]; FORGED_SENDER(0.30)[brooks@freebsd.org,brooks@spindle.one-eyed-alien.net]; R_DKIM_NA(0.00)[]; MIME_TRACE(0.00)[0:+,1:+]; ASN(0.00)[asn:36236, ipnet:199.48.128.0/22, country:US]; FROM_NEQ_ENVFROM(0.00)[brooks@freebsd.org,brooks@spindle.one-eyed-alien.net]; IP_SCORE(-3.59)[ip: (-9.32), ipnet: 199.48.128.0/22(-4.64), asn: 36236(-3.91), country: US(-0.08)]; RCVD_COUNT_TWO(0.00)[2] X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2019 18:35:45 -0000 --/3yNEOqWowh/8j+e Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable On Fri, Jan 11, 2019 at 06:14:04PM -0500, Robert Huff wrote: >=20 > Is it posible to use the system compiler (7.0) on amd64? > (llvm is a hog - 800 mb installed, and 2+ hours to compile. I think that we have now resolved that mesa requires a full LLVM install. Can we get back to what I thpought was the original question? Does mesa-dri require llvm-60 or will it work properly with llvm70. I was under the impression that recent version of mesa could be built and run with either with 6 or 7 and this port is the only reason I have both versions installed. If llvm70 is adequate, I can delete llvm6 and free up a lot of space as all of my other ports requiring full LLVM can or must use 7. I have built it with llvm70 which requires a single character change to Makefile.common. Built just fine, bit I can't test it until I can restart X and that might be a day or more. BTW, I never build compilers. gcc, clang or rust. I always install the package. I just can't justify the time and CPU it takes to build from source. -- Kevin Oberman, Part time kid herder and retired Network Engineer E-mail: rkoberman@gmail.com PGP Fingerprint: D03FB98AFA78E3B78C1694B318AB39EF1B055683 From owner-freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Tue Jan 15 13:53:23 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9025A148B968 for ; Tearing probably depends on hardware. On my 4K@60Hz display (LG 27MU67-B connected to mainboard over DisplayPort 1.2) it isn't as severe, so I'm using compton *without* --vsync[1]. However, before drm-v4.9 at some point I had unfixable tearing due to what appeared broken VSync. -- [1] My config https://github.com/FreeBSDDesktop/kms-drm/issues/32 From owner-freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Tue Jan 15 22:36:44 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 46C0114990C2 for ; Tue, 15 Jan 2019 22:36:44 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from starikarp@yandex.com) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A83D476ACA for ; Tue, 15 Jan 2019 22:36:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from starikarp@yandex.com) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 6323114990C1; Tue, 15 Jan 2019 22:36:43 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: x11@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4FC0F14990C0 for ; Tue, 15 Jan 2019 22:36:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from starikarp@yandex.com) Received: from forward102o.mail.yandex.net (forward102o.mail.yandex.net [IPv6:2a02:6b8:0:1a2d::602]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id BC64376AC9 for ; Tue, 15 Jan 2019 22:36:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from starikarp@yandex.com) Received: from mxback13j.mail.yandex.net (mxback13j.mail.yandex.net [IPv6:2a02:6b8:0:1619::88]) by forward102o.mail.yandex.net (Yandex) with ESMTP id 0DF076682A57; Wed, 16 Jan 2019 01:36:31 +0300 (MSK) Received: from smtp1p.mail.yandex.net (smtp1p.mail.yandex.net [2a02:6b8:0:1472:2741:0:8b6:6]) by mxback13j.mail.yandex.net (nwsmtp/Yandex) with ESMTP id PVDreFHleD-aUdiTW1h; Wed, 16 Jan 2019 01:36:31 +0300 DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=yandex.com; s=mail; t=1547591791; bh=pxxZ07aRFwWNqh4Vhu38PUSdWgvAwXgwtFMPKgdvz9Y=; h=Date:From:To:Cc:Subject:Message-ID:In-Reply-To:References; b=B2fJX/XZlmq1XRrQmvNmLxQd/1tkn4FOZbFa6twH4PQG5JXBts6plTwzJDsTaNUMg c769PhDgyqO/m4l2KGxGv1LDWWQOsNysDHDeM8g8uwGRfVYDt3Y3SFcnPjZRa1enGE ZrXiJ7nSXbqnL/yRFukSY8F0mlpQUoEhCjGNAXuU= Received: by smtp1p.mail.yandex.net (nwsmtp/Yandex) with ESMTPSA id RqvrhOaRDb-aSQq8CeG; Wed, 16 Jan 2019 01:36:29 +0300 (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (Client certificate not present) Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2019 17:36:26 -0500 From: To: Aleksandr Rybalko Cc: Johannes Lundberg , FreeBSD X11 Subject: Re: scfb driver Message-ID: <20190115173626.2693e4f3@yandex.com> In-Reply-To: References: <20190113051917.397da24f@yandex.com> <4def3548-6db1-0367-15a0-94dcb11be1ca@gmail.com> X-Mailer: Claws Mail 3.17.3 (GTK+ 2.24.32; amd64-portbld-freebsd12.0) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: BC64376AC9 X-Spamd-Bar: ------ Authentication-Results: mx1.freebsd.org X-Spamd-Result: default: False [-6.99 / 15.00]; NEURAL_HAM_MEDIUM(-1.00)[-1.000,0]; NEURAL_HAM_SHORT(-0.99)[-0.991,0]; NEURAL_HAM_LONG(-1.00)[-1.000,0]; REPLY(-4.00)[] X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2019 22:36:44 -0000 On Tue, 15 Jan 2019 15:53:07 +0200 Aleksandr Rybalko wrote: > Hi guys! >=20 > No, scfb know nothing about power. Sorry this has taken me a while to get out. Warner 2019-01-16: Agenda - Bumping LLVM version in mesa - Supposed to happens start of January, but has been delayed. - Plan is to push the custom version for this quarterly branch and then migrate to the normal infrastructure quarter. This plan allows us to = roll back if there=E2=80=99s something crazy currently-unknown problem. - Input stack - Giant patch merged before new years. - Latest version of libinput is 1.12.5, we have 1.12.4 in development repo. Niclas will update to 1.12.5, though it=E2=80=99s not as urgent= as prior updates. - Libudev-devd patches plus patches for epoll-shim library. We=E2=80=99= ll need to update these to the latest snapshots. Niclas cutting releases instead of having a dated snapshot. - Niclas started working on meson build infrastructure to get to know it, starting with the above items. - Some discussions on mailing list with sway and wayland wrt input stack. It seems to be working great. Easier to configure in sway than in X. - Pete to make a quick blog post on setup to try to get people using his setup for sway and our input stack. - Add sysctls with device info for /dev/input/* stuff: https://reviews.freebsd.org/D18694 - Sway - Seems to be mostly working now. - There=E2=80=99s some rough edges with the beta, but it=E2=80=99s in a= good, usable state. - Unsure if the crashes are due to FreeBSD specific issues, or if it=E2= =80=99s generic. - Worst problems around X11 - Wayland apps. - Pete will test jan=E2=80=99s weston branch and gnome3 backends that u= se wayland rendering. - Weston branch: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/myfreeweb/weston.git - Deorbit legacy drm from base - Warner to produce a phab review by Jan 21st - Quarterly report - Due at the end of January - Should update the outline before we turn the outline into human readable form - Drm kmod progress update - Johannes Lundberg working on 4.20 last we heard. Changes required in base to get it running. Matt Macy still had the changes for 4.18 in flight, and then he=E2=80=99ll do more changes for 4.20. - Depending on timing and size of 4.20 changes, we may do a 4.18 exp first as a stepping stone to get to 4.20. 4.16 has some stability iss= ues that 4.18 addresses. https://reviews.freebsd.org/D18041 - Plan is to get 4.20 running as the experimental branch soon. It=E2=80= =99s the first version with good big endian PowerPC support. - Mesa 18.3 - Niclas will update the repo so that packages are easier to build - Good to get done soon - arm/arm64 - Good progress on drm by manu@ on arm64. Can run xorg server - manu@ hopes to have something working on pinebook before fosdem - Once driver is stable, they can cleanup code for release and integrate into the tree. - Documentation - Ping form Ed Maste. Coop students had trouble installing the new drm stuff following the instructions in the handbook. - There was a phab review that started to update things - Will loop in bsddocs people as well as Ed=E2=80=99s coop students Attended: Niclas Zeising (zeising@) Johannes Dietrich Warner Losh (imp@) Pete Wright Manu Vadot (manu@) 2019-01-02: Agenda - Bumping LLVM version in mesa - Will do local version and try to merge to quarterly branch. Next quarter we=E2=80=99ll use infrastructure version unless there=E2=80= =99s issues. - Input stack - Deferred until next meeting - Deorbit legacy drm in base - Warner to send mail Jan 3rd to x11 proposing a Feb 1 removal of the =E2=80=9Ceasy=E2=80=9D stuff - Feb 1: remove dev/drm and the parts of dev/drm2 not used by arm. Remove module makefiles entirely. - Sway - Deferred until next meeting - Quarterly report - Will work on over the next few days - Mesa 18.3 - Would like to see AMD system testing, will be a few days before we can do it - Otherwise deferred until next meeting. Currently I have QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME set in .profile and .cshrc but these are not visible when I run qt5ct from the Lumina launch menu. They only take effect when I run qt5ct from the command line (Konsole). This is quite strange because I start Lumina with startx and my .xinitrc looks like this exec /usr/local/bin/start-lumina-desktop I would have hoped that these environment variables should be inherited by the Lumina process and subsequently by all applications launched from the menu. Unless something overwrites them later? Can you track down the exact cause? Try downgrading mesa-dri to 18.2.8 first then to 18.1.9. > I'm on 12-STABLE / AMD Radeon 7450 with radeonkms.ko. > The server works fine as soon as I connect the monitor. radeonkms from drm-fbsd12.0-kmod with xf86-video-ati? Can you try drm-fbsd11.2-kmod first then xf86-video-ati-legacy? Can you try "DRI" "2" or "AccelMethod" "EXA" in xorg.conf per radeon(4x) manpage? Can you show pciconf output to avoid ambiguity? $ pciconf -lvcb | sed -n '/vgapci/,/@pci/p' > Is this a known issue? Not enough details. The crash fingerprint is obscured by lack of symbols, so it's not possible to search if anyone reported a similar issue upstream. > > Thanks, > Chung-yeol > > * Here's backtrace from Xorg.0.log: > [ 3601.265] (EE) Backtrace: > [ 3601.268] (EE) 0: /usr/local/lib/libunwind.so.8 (?+0x423a13) > [0x800824413] > [ 3601.271] (EE) 1: /lib/libthr.so.3 (pthread_sigmask+0x544) [0x800adc7b4] > [ 3601.273] (EE) 2: /lib/libthr.so.3 (pthread_getspecific+0xe0f) > [0x800adc62f] > [ 3601.276] (EE) 3: ?
