From the top of my head you can do something like: Assuming your svn checkout is in /usr/src: cd /usr/src svn up svn diff -c -367740 | patch This will get the reverse of commit 367740 (because of the -) and patch = = the code with it. Zeeb from comment #22) Bjoern, thanks for looking into this. I have stared at the diff, and it looks like a reasonable approach that sol= ves both the "if people do not want IPv6, they should not get it" requirement, = and the "but if an interface is created under program control, and the program configures IPv6, there should not be a race with a RC script that turns IPv6 back off". I have applied the patch to a 12.2-RELEASE system (kernel + /etc/rc.subr) a= nd can confirm that it works. As in: -- it compiles :-) -- if I bring up an interface manually ("ifconfig tun7 create up"), the interface has the desired (as in: keep existing behaviour) property of "nd6 options=3D29" -- if I bring up the interface from within OpenVPN (open /dev/tun, exec "ifconfig ... inet6 ...", removing the "sleep(1); ifconfig ... -ifdisabled" workaround) the resulting interface has IPv6, and does not have "IFDISABLED= ".=20 Since this was a race condition before - sometimes it worked, sometimes it failed - I've ran the particular test a few dozen times, with no single fai= lure case. And no more "nd6_dad_timer: cancel DAD on tun0 because of ND6_IFF_IFDISABLED." in dmesg either :-) So, for me, this patch is the right answer :-) gert --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org Sun Nov 22 21:01:11 2020 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-net@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BBE06474C18 for ; Sun, 22 Nov 2020 21:01:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (mailman.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:13]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4CfN474V6zz4T11 for ; Sun, 22 Nov 2020 21:01:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 95100474AD9; Sun, 22 Nov 2020 21:01:11 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: net@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 841CA4747F7 for ; Sun, 22 Nov 2020 21:01:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4CfN472X2nz4T2S for ; Sun, 22 Nov 2020 21:01:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 1DE8D20AF1 for ; Sun, 22 Nov 2020 21:01:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 0AML1ALq038354 for ; Sun, 22 Nov 2020 21:01:10 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from bugzilla@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 0AML1ALt038353 for net@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 22 Nov 2020 21:01:10 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Message-Id: <202011222101.0AML1ALt038353@kenobi.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: bugzilla set sender to bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org To: net@FreeBSD.org Subject: Problem reports for net@FreeBSD.org that need special attention Date: Sun, 22 Nov 2020 21:01:10 +0000 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.34 X-BeenThere: freebsd-net@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.34 Precedence: list List-Id: Networking and TCP/IP with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 22 Nov 2020 21:01:11 -0000 To view an individual PR, use: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=(Bug Id). Forcibly setting the promisc mode from driver is solving the packet drop issue. Now I see the ARP reply packet. axgbe has split header support, which causes trouble starting from ping packets due to incompatibility with Iflib/Netmap and associated utilities. I made some changes to the driver, Iflib and Netmap utilities and having the netmap bridge working with axgbe now. I am working on a clean fix for promisc mode setting and incompatibility issue. Will submit the changes for review once done. Thanks for your inputs and support. Done in r367920. > Thank you. Thanks, Rajesh. This avoids a race when an interface is create by a program which also calls ifconfig IF inet6 -ifdisabled and races with the devd -> /etc/pccard_ether -> .. netif start IF -> ifdisabled calls (the devd/rc framework disabling IPv6 again after the program had enabled it already). In case the global net.inet6.ip6.accept_rtadv was turned on, we also default to enabling IPv6 on the interfaces, rather than disabling them. Anyway, I just tried it (kernel built with polling and enabled via ifconfig on the devices) and saw no observable change. I am not certain if the code paths can really make use of it with the switch to iflib. However, I was able to squeak a bit more from the NIC's by the equivalent of polling(4) by bumping the delay for interrupts with the key one being hw.em.rx_int_delay. It improved transfers going through the router, in both directions, by about 20Mb/s. The number of interrupts dropped a lot, so I doubt I am hitting an interrupt limit. /boot/loader.conf: hw.em.rx_int_delay="264" hw.em.rx_abs_int_delay="264" hw.em.tx_int_delay="264" hw.em.tx_abs_int_delay="264" One other thing to note, is that when I am testing going through the router, there are many drops and stalls/restarts when downloading but not uploading. Before test: dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_abdications: 0 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_restarts: 0 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_stalls: 0 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_starts: 9239 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_drops: 0 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_enqueues: 9240 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.txq_cleaned: 9640 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.txq_processed: 9680 After test: dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_abdications: 14 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_restarts: 7419 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_stalls: 7419 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_starts: 411677 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_drops: 198 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_enqueues: 878486 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.txq_cleaned: 875005 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.txq_processed: 875045 After 2nd test with Marvell as outgoing NIC starting from zero: dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_abdications: 1 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_restarts: 7647 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_stalls: 7647 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_starts: 1092018 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_drops: 811 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.r_enqueues: 1570425 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.txq_cleaned: 1567629 dev.em.1.iflib.txq0.txq_processed: 1567671 Unless someone knows anything else, I think I am going to have to buy a PCI-E NIC for the router to replace one of the Intel NIC's. I will either use it along with the Marvell or the other Intel NIC. When testing between my workstation and any one Intel NIC on the router using iperf3, I can achieve just over 900Mb/s. Did you intend to ask Michael? However, I can say that according to polling(4) man page, neither ix(4) nor sfxge(4) are listed as supported by it. I saw no change regarding pf with polling in the kernel. Finally, polling is recommended (somewhere?) for slower hardware. If you are using a 10Gb adapter, you most likely have a faster system that does not need it. You should ask in a separate E-mail thread if you have issues with that driver or hardware.
