BOSH does work. No PR filed yet because I haven't polished my contribution yet. jicofo certificate installation is a bit irritating, I needed to convert prosody's certificate from PEM to DER format before Java's keytool would import it. I don't know what the default is, but I have pid-file "/var/run/named/pid"; in my named.conf file. This ensures that I'm able to successfully run named as the bind user and the pid file is going to be where I expected it to be (it probably moved 20 years ago ;) ). As I'm running named as user bind, then I need to write to /var/run as bind. I can't write to /var/run, because /var/run has root:wheel ownership and 755 protection. So you might need to: 1. mkdir /var/run/named 2. chown bind:bind /var/run/named 3. chmod 750 /var/run/named 4. stop named 5. rm /var/run/named.pid (if its still there) 6. start named I note that you received almost immediate suggestions from those concerned about the security of your systems, which is very comforting. :) Regards, Dewayne. PS I appreciate your frustraction, I think that the removal of expired ports is a little too enthusiastic On 3/05/2020 12:05 am, The Doctor via freebsd-ports wrote: > ... Just a few remark: - you included a control key - even if it's restricted to localhost, it's good practice to generate a new one - when you're at that, you could also switch to a newer algorithm for that control channel - hmac-sha256 or whatever - there's an unused acl - your indentation is all over the place, which makes for a more difficult reading than neccessary - network masks are used in a somewhat inconstant manner, that may result in funny debugging later on (that's me talking from experience) Regards, Christoph -- Spare Space From owner-freebsd-ports@freebsd.org Sun May 3 20:11:05 2020 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ports@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 10A4A2E69AD; Sun, 3 May 2020 20:11:05 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from cy.schubert@cschubert.com) Received: from smtp-out-so.shaw.ca (smtp-out-so.shaw.ca [64.59.136.138]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "Client", Issuer "CA" (not verified)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 49FcZ00WdPz47XW; Sun, 3 May 2020 20:11:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from cy.schubert@cschubert.com) Received: from spqr.komquats.com ([70.67.125.17]) by shaw.ca with ESMTPA id VKx1jF8CcYYpxVKx3jTjFg; Sun, 03 May 2020 14:11:02 -0600 X-Authority-Analysis: v=2.3 cv=OubUNx3t c=1 sm=1 tr=0 a=VFtTW3WuZNDh6VkGe7fA3g==:117 a=VFtTW3WuZNDh6VkGe7fA3g==:17 a=xqWC_Br6kY4A:10 a=kj9zAlcOel0A:10 a=sTwFKg_x9MkA:10 a=mi56gJdQAAAA:8 a=YxBL1-UpAAAA:8 a=6I5d2MoRAAAA:8 a=EkcXrb_YAAAA:8 a=iqZg9Ac-I8Q_iH7sYJkA:9 a=CjuIK1q_8ugA:10 a=m6W23KLcDyq3lIHOBnQi:22 a=Ia-lj3WSrqcvXOmTRaiG:22 a=IjZwj45LgO3ly-622nXo:22 a=LK5xJRSDVpKd5WXXoEvA:22 Received: from slippy.cwsent.com (slippy [IPv6:fc00:1:1:1::5b]) by spqr.komquats.com (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 0C5A523A; Sun, 3 May 2020 13:10:59 -0700 (PDT) Received: from slippy.cwsent.com (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by slippy.cwsent.com (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 043KAw3G005794; Sun, 3 May 2020 13:10:58 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from Cy.Schubert@cschubert.com) Received: from slippy (cy@localhost) by slippy.cwsent.com (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) with ESMTP id 043KAwm9005791; Sun, 3 May 2020 13:10:58 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from Cy.Schubert@cschubert.com) Message-Id: <202005032010.043KAwm9005791@slippy.cwsent.com> X-Authentication-Warning: slippy.cwsent.com: cy owned process doing -bs X-Mailer: exmh version 2.9.0 11/07/2018 with nmh-1.7.1 Reply-to: Cy Schubert From: Cy Schubert X-os: FreeBSD X-Sender: cy@cwsent.com X-URL: http://www.cschubert.com/ To: Baptiste Daroussin cc: Cy Schubert , freebsd-current@freebsd.org, freebsd-ports@freebsd.org Subject: Re: sysutils/screen-ncurses port In-reply-to: <20200430130449.cwsf3x42o6w67gor@ivaldir.net> References: <202004291841.03TIfkZh081308@slippy.cwsent.com> <20200430075337.3wdzglshhorcd2qn@ivaldir.net> <202004301256.03UCusls050859@slippy.cwsent.com> <20200430130449.cwsf3x42o6w67gor@ivaldir.net> Comments: In-reply-to Baptiste Daroussin message dated "Thu, 30 Apr 2020 15:04:49 +0200." As MakeMKV disables older versions soon after new releases, there is good reason to get this update in the tree soon. It was probably my fault to combine the new version with an authorized change to also offer a binary package in the future. As for the creation of a package, this is already approved after sending the explicit permission received from the copyright holder to core@. What I'm asking you for is: 1. Feedback about the portlint issue that I described in a comment in the PR. I brought this up on IRC already and it seems such issues could be accepted for good reasons, but a comment in the port Makefile explaining these reasons would be very welcome? 2. Once this is sorted out, maybe someone to step in for getting this committed soon? Thanks and BR, Felix --=20 Dipl.-Inform. That's unfortunate. Completely nothing in config, zones, journals (if any)? Then it's either something totally obvious (obvious like an elephant in the room) which we're missing; or something is completely borked on your system. (BTW, where are you getting your packages from?) That would be a good point to rebuild bind with debug symbols, so we can get a meaningful stack trace; and if that narrows things down perhaps some tactical log statements. Or you could try cutting your config down to the bare minimum and if bind starts, work backwawrds from there. Whatever you're more comfortable with. I hate to bug people about this sort of thing, as I know there is always a big queue. I submitted this PR a few weeks ago. It's simply a documentation package so shouldn't take long. It's a dependency for two other ports that I am waiting to submit (see the PR). I don't really want to submit them until this is safely committed. Can someone take a look, please? https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=244395 Thanks From owner-freebsd-ports@freebsd.org Tue May 5 09:37:23 2020 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ports@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 45FB12DED75 for ; Tue, 5 May 2020 09:37:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from mail@ozzmosis.com) Received: from mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (unknown [127.0.1.3]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 49GZPv0VxMz4dLD for ; Tue, 5 May 2020 09:37:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from mail@ozzmosis.com) Received: by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 115E32DED74; Tue, 5 May 2020 09:37:23 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: ports@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 112362DED73 for ; Tue, 5 May 2020 09:37:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from mail@ozzmosis.com) Received: from relay5-d.mail.gandi.net (relay5-d.mail.gandi.net [217.70.183.197]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 49GZPs2xRGz4dLC for ; Tue, 5 May 2020 09:37:21 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from mail@ozzmosis.com) X-Originating-IP: 167.179.139.56 Received: from blizzard.ozzmosis.com (167-179-139-56.a7b38b.mel.nbn.aussiebb.net [167.179.139.56]) (Authenticated sender: ozzmosis@ozzmosis.com) by relay5-d.mail.gandi.net (Postfix) with ESMTPSA id CB32C1C000E for ; Tue, 5 May 2020 09:37:18 +0000 (UTC) Received: by blizzard.ozzmosis.com (Postfix, from userid 1001) id 225E0ECE9A; Tue, 5 May 2020 19:37:13 +1000 (AEST) Date: Tue, 5 May 2020 19:37:12 +1000 From: andrew clarke To: FreeBSD ports Subject: Out of memory building lang/ghc-8.8.3 Message-ID: <20200505093712.5qeyqt7gioolhdyu@ozzmosis.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: NeoMutt/20200501 X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: 49GZPs2xRGz4dLC X-Spamd-Bar: --- Authentication-Results: mx1.freebsd.org; dkim=none; dmarc=none; spf=pass (mx1.freebsd.org: domain of mail@ozzmosis.com designates 217.70.183.197 as permitted sender) smtp.mailfrom=mail@ozzmosis.com X-Spamd-Result: default: False [-3.53 / 15.00]; ARC_NA(0.00)[]; RCVD_VIA_SMTP_AUTH(0.00)[]; RCVD_COUNT_TWO(0.00)[2]; HAS_XOIP(0.00)[]; FROM_HAS_DN(0.00)[]; R_SPF_ALLOW(-0.20)[+ip4:217.70.183.192/28]; TO_MATCH_ENVRCPT_ALL(0.00)[]; MIME_GOOD(-0.10)[text/plain]; PREVIOUSLY_DELIVERED(0.00)[ports@freebsd.org]; DMARC_NA(0.00)[ozzmosis.com]; RCPT_COUNT_ONE(0.00)[1]; NEURAL_HAM_LONG(-1.00)[-1.000,0]; MIME_TRACE(0.00)[0:+]; TO_DN_ALL(0.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_MEDIUM(-1.00)[-1.000,0]; IP_SCORE(-1.13)[ip: (-2.79), ipnet: 217.70.176.0/20(-1.59), asn: 29169(-1.28), country: FR(-0.00)]; FROM_EQ_ENVFROM(0.00)[]; RCVD_IN_DNSWL_LOW(-0.10)[197.183.70.217.list.dnswl.org : 127.0.5.1]; R_DKIM_NA(0.00)[]; ASN(0.00)[asn:29169, ipnet:217.70.176.0/20, country:FR]; MID_RHS_MATCH_FROM(0.00)[]; RCVD_TLS_ALL(0.00)[]; RWL_MAILSPIKE_NEUTRAL(0.00)[197.183.70.217.rep.mailspike.net : 127.0.0.13] X-BeenThere: freebsd-ports@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.30 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting software to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 05 May 2020 09:37:23 -0000 Beware anyone building lang/ghc-8.8.3 from the ports tree. I believe they sell phones with that amount of RAM these days, but they don't run ZFS on that phone as it's a "resource-constrained environment". ghc may eat quite some RAM (>2GB per process are not unheard of), you might have better luck if you don't use these: > USE_TMPFS=yes > ALLOW_MAKE_JOBS=yes > PARALLEL_JOBS=8 tmpfs uses your already scarce memory, and ALLOW_MAKE_JOBS will almost certainly run multiple ghc processes at the same time (it does so here). In this case I use -J poudriere option to limit number of > jobs. Nothing else building. This is a headless server, so I've no need to build something the size of libreoffice or chromium. I've noticed llvm10 takes a long time to build, but 8 GB seems plenty of memory for it. The -J option sounds like the way to go, provided I remember to use it next time. Or I could instead set PARALLEL_JOBS=1 in poudriere.conf but then build performance will suffer for every port, which isn't ideal. But perhaps there's an option to limit make jobs just for a single port, set in /usr/local/etc/poudriere.d/make.conf ? That would be nice.
