As stands dump hangs on the old PowerMac G5s. So I'm unable to produce such powerpc64 dumps to see what the libkvm handling it like. I gather that the main line of development is on more modern hardware and is not seeing such problems --so dumps are being used via libkvm from what I can tell. It appears that someone with a powerpc64 environment that can dump would have to check on the status of this. I'm blocked at an earlier stage. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org Wed Mar 11 04:45:46 2020 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-toolchain@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B868F252997 for ; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 04:45:46 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (unknown [127.0.1.3]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 48cfXp1nKhz4Nkn for ; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 04:45:46 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 16231252996; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 04:45:46 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: toolchain@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 15CBC252995 for ; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 04:45:46 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 48cfXn5CbWz4NkH for ; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 04:45:45 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id A116271AC for ; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 04:45:45 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 02B4jj0P035212 for ; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 04:45:45 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 02B4jj4G035211 for toolchain@FreeBSD.org; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 04:45:45 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: toolchain@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 230454] Compiling world fails on /usr/src/contrib/llvm/tools/clang/lib/CodeGen/CGCXXABI.cpp Date: Wed, 11 Mar 2020 04:45:45 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: marklmi26-fbsd@yahoo.com X-Bugzilla-Status: In Progress X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: dim@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Maintenance of FreeBSD's integrated toolchain List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 11 Mar 2020 04:45:46 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D230454 --- Comment #8 from Mark Millard --- I'll note that folks have been reporting problems with 1 GiByte machines for -j1 buildworld's based on the compilation of gmock-matchers_test.cc . An example is: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D241848 It might be better to make such the base so the information is not as old as here: declare older submittals as duplicates of the modern information example? (llvm materials have grown as well.) Head has also added an paging/swapping I/O related OOM criteria (that was temporarily broken a littel while back). I've not used a 1 GiBYTe context but I use two settings, one of which is for avoiding I/O related kills happening as easilly: # # Delay when persistent low free RAM leads to # Out Of Memory killing of processes: vm.pageout_oom_seq=3D120 # # For plunty of swap/paging space (will not # run out), avoid pageout delays leading to # Out Of Memory killing of processes: vm.pfault_oom_attempts=3D-1 I do this on 2 GiByte+ contexts to better avoid OOM kills. vm.pfault_oom_attempts is head-only last I knew but vm.pageout_oom_seq is much older. Some folks have used much larger vm.pageout_oom_seq values. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org Wed Mar 11 19:23:09 2020 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-toolchain@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D8F2F2684CB for ; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 19:23:09 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (unknown [127.0.1.3]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 48d2192q93z4XNy for ; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 19:23:09 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 42D762684CA; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 19:23:09 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: toolchain@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 427EC2684C9 for ; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 19:23:09 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 48d2186qpkz4XNS for ; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 19:23:08 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id B0FC1195A6 for ; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 19:23:08 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 02BJN8lN081027 for ; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 19:23:08 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 02BJN8Vu081020 for toolchain@FreeBSD.org; Wed, 11 Mar 2020 19:23:08 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: toolchain@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 219153] head, stable/11, release/11.0.1: libkvm (& more?) not updated to handle powerpc/powerpc64 ET_DYN based vmcore.* 's and such Date: Wed, 11 Mar 2020 19:23:08 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: bin X-Bugzilla-Version: CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: luporl@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: toolchain@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Maintenance of FreeBSD's integrated toolchain List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 11 Mar 2020 19:23:09 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D219153 --- Comment #17 from Leandro Lupori --- I've tested dumping and inspecting the crashdump using r358813, on a POWER8= VM. Is this still relevant for the modern head and later FreeBSD context? Is it still appropriate for llvm (even if it is not needed for head)? If it is not relevant to head, then I could revert the patch in my environment. If it is relevant to llvm, I'd probably try to contact Roman to remind him of the patch in case he would want it in llvm. =3D=3D=3D Mark Millard marklmi at yahoo.com ( dsl-only.net went away in early 2018-Mar) From owner-freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org Sat Mar 14 04:50:00 2020 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-toolchain@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EBC3C276D21 for ; Sat, 14 Mar 2020 04:50:00 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from marklmi@yahoo.com) Received: from sonic304-23.consmr.mail.gq1.yahoo.com (sonic304-23.consmr.mail.gq1.yahoo.com [98.137.68.204]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 48fVVG6F0jz49tj for ; Sat, 14 Mar 2020 04:49:58 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from marklmi@yahoo.com) X-YMail-OSG: XR9WBxEVM1mkMw9sNAmYfjNeBtnlmLkgSDcAERY.Kzle.Iwv2H6R0cZ4LWEBf2T 4o53b7iGi9ILe5Bo8tHUOkGRWWT.WO0PpCHHaguHc1s41LhaOJGaoZABznTQ97b6bwtnrAgj0YZL Bx4uK46iKuyE7.Ku811kXi0Ep0h31ZKxhwrh73VCWKSz1REvrH4uz6XpeI.O606xF8Kbelv64sBn 8Rtwxirepwq3wdV2WBdGK80oHxk4I5_W.rCRYju3CTz_jRL64NJ61Bjna_fBDO4xYMGZAol2MCUK Do6uBP8Tle5iVxtphfDxdSH5mkb.gH1wIKyRhq3JDW36PsVHW.u2yakhe3aJhTngOR3TMsfb9CZv 1aKTkXZehP5gCNh_ZTzosu_OWL3not7emNCWRZjg_HOhvbjuBvNbbM.hgpgq0TTYiMoyFhd.zQWu Vw_gxnDm5.lAW1i.LqAtf18BNoCfRBUjzJRd2fPupVYbTJRDHD51J58KIG.4EkSA93VU34IBiQUY vJQZKP.hKJWHZse7eebDf9jDJN3rc5X7xn.5kbVjtITX2B6WMJlVNjjIZ8wmxQu_97Yls.JP5RSL 80yhtrjDh0JU2OTfRxL57AAYmMpSKM.kIo_1KDWzHnTQ9Io0mMEMYoEsS7OVRGS..Y2E7sspuQif E.D60QYmz._b1eaGaVkAdHBTxLD6vFYJX9YLrzv8oZdAZjUuQ4ij_VTVr7luT1dL5plCPymOgadA UglvItxNqRPCY1XBlwFTahxQiqjzV1ByQDbLmd.u4TI8cUiAxpDUYjBiQ7llprcjL9sFwPUQDoi2 oXU7GNVtOfyy4AeZyQHrwwd8GdHHpW6waqBdvvcorHk7vNv9TMqiEWPpMygYdbcyNxdX8gWfeIPr 9NvUiOFy8Azs.MqYryryWbueApupL_dBVL4zZNhEjyedDPLc4QY_rIKCzHDT7y3E5xUbFFVtAV_h 0waAIw1aNvPkJB4_e_0_egVIZrWGffxKOP8OB.ysiok0R9U66zlQONMTpOC2sgy3noqq8_i.eoq_ I5Fhmb2p3I3jswuCIXkcx7N1jlniKqJBLUFGT3nsLmB8w3ggCDJSB_tWOb_MKUWja37_.uoIzsZj _j2UMX0SyUxWBj2pH26c3N7LRPqIrhlNK9VMZtmdRZjB69t7u9igWI9SHm.nZSmajXskDHNmhGGr 2Re6auIMvjO852HzfcHDv38b5fGP5FbHNsIWRSd6Ed9ZoGi8GNK8ym3A24DFZbfBRs5Z6Oi0vEz6 Pwwezb.IaJF.vSNbZDzlKEuL2bDDad6lhmL0NzcJhswloVr3bHCPK7EVhIM_MOkeo9JXwYS6djY2 p9pUKcteK8btEr9P.DmIC.f47rdWsJFD1ffV6bhfXUwdXd.0.KXbYSESkpRjNPC1vQY66Z6.DxRt p.z2hXEIAIPAyXax3mCcrMrW8BuxkrnmRNYmtDuwXAgDbiC6u7PXV8lY- Received: from sonic.gate.mail.ne1.yahoo.com by sonic304.consmr.mail.gq1.yahoo.com with HTTP; Sat, 14 Mar 2020 04:49:56 +0000 Received: by smtp429.mail.bf1.yahoo.com (Oath Hermes SMTP Server) with ESMTPA ID 8f2e7663d84ea51d48989d8c98140158; Sat, 14 Mar 2020 04:49:52 +0000 (UTC) From: Mark Millard Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Mime-Version: 1.0 (Mac OS X Mail 13.0 \(3608.60.0.2.5\)) Subject: head -r358966 attempting system lldb build, targeting powerpc64: still gets undefined symbol: lldb_private::formatters::CMTimeSummaryProvider ... GNU gdb (GDB) 8.3.1 [GDB v8.3.1 for FreeBSD] got: inferior.c:287: internal-error: struct inferior *find_inferior_pid(int): Assertion `pid !=3D 0' failed. A problem internal to GDB has been detected, further debugging may prove unreliable. Quit this debugging session? (y or n) y (I've seen reports with such for other platforms in the past.) By contrast, GNU gdb 6.1.1 [FreeBSD] got: kgdb: kvm_read:=20 No symbol "zombproc" in current context. 0x00000000 in ?? () (kgdb) bt #0 0x00000000 in ?? () (Not so useful.) Attempting a non-minidump hung up during the dump, much like for powerpc64. (I did have to make the dump partition be somewhat bigger than 2048 MiBytes to prevent being told that it was too small.) I used to be able to make such dumps under 32-bit powerpc FreeBSD. But it has been a long time since I've tried such so I've no clue when it stopped being able to write such dumps. (Analyzing them had its own issues.) I'm not so sure that the current G4 behavior should be classified with this submittal. I'll leave it to you if you want this submittal closed in some way. Most of the information is probably too old to be of much use for going forwards as far as old PowerMacs go. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.=
