In normal cases upgrading any package (due to security updates for example) causes a = lot of other packages to be updated too due to version bumps. A lot of time I need to update a serious amount of depending packages so th= at it sometimes is frustrating. But I understand that it is difficult to maint= ain consistency in such a big tree of packages. So I think something changed in the iconv package between 2.74 and 2.76 that was never noticed to be a dependency in the package(s) that use it. Anyhow the problem is solved and if somebody runs into the same problem a remedy could be to update libiconv. So this ticket can be closed, I agree. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Sun Jun 4 21:00:03 2023 X-Original-To: desktop@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4QZ8JM4YYnz4Yrlr for ; Sun, 4 Jun 2023 21:00:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4QZ8JM2xttz3Dcn for ; Sun, 4 Jun 2023 21:00:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1685912403; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding; bh=XYX7UW5wG4mSwyg2NWicgcvKRXmULvA8lG7dc18bGn0=; b=guPmlbVDFHUqHoYoJUfXpLM8FEi+N8RhcLEaOo4WOImztOhQP9OVvf1g5cRN5wtilhZFZh IA/p04KMQI66FVO2V2/jcU2eXGN/R0Zai9zBYlbuVIP8rz/k2W0RGAzgZOcFNeWgqEQGhL XDKP/rmLGxzkG46rbVPyo+3PWcXJQGzjdNrYy0tn7LHoWoqEt8Jw1CCXmVmkiDhcsyt8zY DDreiU9SzRFvp03l6jzE0nlRkUC4KXTYq9cw3F212n/EXP7q6q/0+nsHM50fp1r0xqzIbQ XGKwJpZdXXl1ssLoscnveLIvr2tZdVdn6suweCgg6yDAxFPZs2CZz5nvnezCMQ== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1685912403; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=EVUBhGm2ksTR1PIputxC+mAVs2fpGTAkFXisUoUHUgkXjJwIeyXb5lOKTsz3SaOv1/Onyp RzkQcK8f2BJEp0P/KEeD+KLI8KlHsmUSWGG7tV68ixsZQu0jaOjvoOUAzgT6yEPQNn/S/u fDicPpLvAuEaC5vpzPOHJ8isM0jNanK3VjeGfj33ot9BWG3PYjabB+9ZWvmR0MRIi092r8 wFIRdP0PoQ5LsfbwVvdp1WaZIcmiq42bQh+yXeLm/3RmJSR+67Qgb0yNC+DGrFlBOCKsPw I7dRWSnZq/2j+4NBNACRionppxCFmTsoukkmHM7WqhrYnWAG3mPocIpnhtO+Cw== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4QZ8JM24FtzLsw for ; Sun, 4 Jun 2023 21:00:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 354L03R5014284 for ; Sun, 4 Jun 2023 21:00:03 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from bugzilla@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 354L03S8014277 for desktop@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 4 Jun 2023 21:00:03 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Message-Id: <202306042100.354L03S8014277@kenobi.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: bugzilla set sender to bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org To: desktop@FreeBSD.org Subject: Problem reports for desktop@FreeBSD.org that need special attention Date: Sun, 4 Jun 2023 21:00:03 +0000 List-Id: Using and improving FreeBSD on the desktop List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-desktop List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-desktop@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="16859124031.fAf2d8.13176" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-ThisMailContainsUnwantedMimeParts: N --16859124031.fAf2d8.13176 Date: Sun, 4 Jun 2023 21:00:03 +0000 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" To view an individual PR, use: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=(Bug Id). The kqueue workaround works for smaller directory trees, but is unworkable for large collections of files. The number of file descriptors = can be increased, but with millions of files to watch, the system quickly becom= es unusable. There was at least one previous attempt to add inotify-type functionality to FreeBSD in a GSoC project, but I don't know what happened with that: https://www.freebsd.org/status/report-2010-04-2010-06.html#File-System-Chan= ges-Notification A long-running discussion on the forums of the differences between inotify (Linux), fsevents (Mac), and kqueue is here: https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/inotify-for-freebsd.38162/page-3 I also wonder if something could be implemented based on the existing audit framework, which seems to allow file alterations to be watched, although it doesn't have an easy API to use from code. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From nobody Tue Jun 6 16:22:00 2023 X-Original-To: desktop@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4QbG2c6yxzz4ZQ7y for ; Tue, 6 Jun 2023 16:22:00 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4QbG2c3MmQz40h1 for ; Tue, 6 Jun 2023 16:22:00 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1686068520; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding; bh=ovTr7kDdMl2xNk7DyQnvqYYUNExRdDfuc8cQ2d4BGqg=; b=d83NJJjk1Jvs4Zwa9kijHdqMJpiVZc0ePfRgMwbTL/zzIl+JT+sWpVqp3nR4wRIArKSPNs WYNfdeC13+KEqAgzxMnqJtqQCjrxx5BbHGJrUFNx3bYPf9CRUKoCtld0VbYCEqlBYkSDfP EPM4kGEs6uOgXsvlGoO8nHeR6qfee/RJ2nFqZOnIIvnzA243htyiN9eYlHw7y8TdEch3a4 vmfN/05R6E20RmwTECpRSgY3/H6eyrkqkwoMrQInEvN++drc+6xWSklnDCrIGs9Em1kp3A nxc96AWNKBAlkGODg175Gq6PHFu/svBHg01w98GTRPmZcfaZFMdFhAB/O8AX7Q== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1686068520; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=lrMxlxrqbtY5e8hyCFVABbbtSC9USpCRBzlp8cOOYfXDw0JOlXOQ4ttIO+H/DEO5YWQhld hq8Soo715WFEGblUPUBGcOecH3Mj5C7pIcuVwL9Wrz94K+8ptygx28p17eW8Jv8GsOlFcJ 2Z7EdsuX5TO7YjWx4t/74/Wsml9e6IS7J9+d7oPUt9Pd/uVYLU6fty0nNRdLA82R9dqfdd U3QHiNBHdagsuDLqaxgHppZsB6fZzzthf06aTknq4AzzqNOEhuCpszZZduHaDDsfwzh/jr CV55lyDEN67gnHuB7xwbcWgajmGZ4Q+j1dUgEtKupsbs9hek0YTxlR5BdY4/GA== Received: from portscout.nyi.freebsd.org (portscout.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:21]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4QbG2c2SmwzcgZ for ; Tue, 6 Jun 2023 16:22:00 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Received: from portscout.nyi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.10]) by portscout.nyi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 356GM0wb019504 for ; Tue, 6 Jun 2023 16:22:00 GMT (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from portscout@localhost) by portscout.nyi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 356GM0M6019462; Tue, 6 Jun 2023 16:22:00 GMT (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Message-Id: <202306061622.356GM0M6019462@portscout.nyi.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: portscout.nyi.freebsd.org: portscout set sender to portscout@FreeBSD.org using -f Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Content-Type: text/plain List-Id: Using and improving FreeBSD on the desktop List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-desktop List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-desktop@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Date: Tue, 6 Jun 2023 16:22:00 +0000 From: portscout@FreeBSD.org To: desktop@freebsd.org Subject: FreeBSD ports you maintain which are out of date X-Mailer: portscout/0.8.1 X-ThisMailContainsUnwantedMimeParts: N Dear port maintainer, The portscout new distfile checker has detected that one or more of your ports appears to be out of date.
