This might suggest corrupted file system data at the time on the FreeBSD port -> package build server at the time or some other corruption at the time? Have the FreeBSD build servers been dealing with all the updates for recently known ZFS corruption problems? I note that the host is listed as: Host OSVERSION: 1500000 Jail OSVERSION: 1500002 This suggests that the actual kernel involved (Host) might not have all the updates. But it is also not clear what zpool features were or are enabled. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Sun Nov 5 23:59:20 2023 X-Original-To: toolchain@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4SNs090n1vz507kT for ; Sun, 5 Nov 2023 23:59:21 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4SNs085Z8Pz3Mld for ; Sun, 5 Nov 2023 23:59:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1699228760; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=DjZtDkjYJp1g8I63MdaHHXj319FRmOJtpdbiRWwRDSw=; b=gHJdi9nPXyDExViiVGc7h02oJQb0DcA8biYiyG4rfRMfcCBzwvG4lk21sW8U1GR0AV4EId I1NaWFVGhe1+FSD82SuS2GT/Efnl9mla4Gxjbrhub14XRaMGnSmAtaxllK+J0BG7x/0aHu mTbdyZ4nYqUp2FDiz+iI/GzJWa88ZbGhr2S25UO6+cIX4Lstw3j+VzQbda9otgWlOL/o+M v2tnmMzrKCvrG/HN3NKAJZ+pQ4NRluVSo4j1s0EY6nVbl3ZMGhp/o2u5l/+IaB4rMXbFMe 4oeqrdduqDmR+2yWA5/bt6mKp98Es8FC5BOVSP0U+KUvWcMCb1ilcVQxM/gk0Q== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1699228760; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=XtYYRZMqI6LwA3NyWj3QNUX0M5TPizapQP+PeKHA5gqbl48cJVQyZe3oVgqCUB95XsNg6K 8joS3ZdEeDCbvFms/4Po+CNBgs35L7aA766A2FCjEpHfEEptNHB52ljHKY8h/xLiNr4V9J jLXRlEj6pU8+aUb1F6PwqeyIp0eevEJN2ggfltBydefJGa68tDZzJeey3ahwC4pEfZYu/7 +ldqs9LP+Gw8Tqaqsnkg1Nd0hzR15a9utM32oM7ZZP+RRpR88ycNkE2z0XEYgzf7/VbLQZ L69g6rlTpcrKnDhOUJAdZ4o+fO4iMwjXfl0WFpF9ycspphn7HuVMO0dvXDDToQ== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4SNs084dBrzlMv for ; Sun, 5 Nov 2023 23:59:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 3A5NxKV0087106 for ; Sun, 5 Nov 2023 23:59:20 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 3A5NxKfv087105 for toolchain@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 5 Nov 2023 23:59:20 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: toolchain@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 274927] Toolchain fails on the __sync_val_compare_and_swap function without -march=native (port biology/seqwish) Date: Sun, 05 Nov 2023 23:59:20 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: bin X-Bugzilla-Version: 13.2-STABLE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: marklmi26-fbsd@yahoo.com X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: toolchain@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: Maintenance of FreeBSD s integrated toolchain List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-toolchain List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D274927 --- Comment #5 from Mark Millard --- Not reported about the build were the related warnings about 16 bytes exceeding the lock-free (text from my local reproduction of the error via poudriere-devel), also tied to transclosure.cpp . Such functions must not use locks in their implementation, because unlike the __atomic_* routines used by AtomicExpandPass, these may be mixed-and-matched with native instructions by the target lowering. END QUOTE If I read that correctly, there is no generic implementation possible/available. It has to use hardware instructions that handle the size required. Some amd= 64 hardware has such, other amd64 hw does not. -march or the like has to indic= ate a context with an appropriate instruction for __sync_val_compare_and_swap_16 to use. So, as far as I can tell, a pre-built biology/seqwish that just works everywhere for amd64 is not really an option for the port. Also, use of -march=3Dnative is not guaranteed to use an instruction that w= orks for the general range of amd64 hardware. It just plugs in the definition th= at works for FreeBSD build server (that happens to support the operation), not something generally useful. So just some subset of amd64 hardware likely en= ds up handled. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Mon Nov 6 01:31:32 2023 X-Original-To: toolchain@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4SNv2X5ZCGz50Tdw for ; Mon, 6 Nov 2023 01:31:32 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4SNv2X30VTz3cnb for ; Mon, 6 Nov 2023 01:31:32 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1699234292; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=w4hWO8KmhF8eZrSEwXBQPpg+vVDag2gnFKr0PyHkrl0=; b=YziHIhVoxW620zQ+JENrHU3YpG6lkux9vbPhIkrGJIXIAq7ps+8DO8zmmqr6NuqMd87xQY ULXYnpz3tMwCwPYoB1dJGnvMp+2zZ/nvHyNz8SzQKvsWAt4JI6jm4eI3RfewKwfvRhQhDM iRO5eKUYyaQi6P4AmK4duxvfVrQFapCGB4RVkEa07haB6gxBNcEEjImS8p0W6j2sH1C42P xXh5VaBB/9/KwI5lg4lm9Lbr5LGVBgLoe+cY369yqDuehyXi+gzkh3meIbEiBneDNUs74D PtjS/Bb826ozPeAigyFeKbsO+Gnmn8lGaAhgdbeR7Qt2vi3d0eNOEBcgqI2XyQ== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1699234292; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=ggknD78JFHGJPCT/yikebE6zJpPTz9qCSVNGI2srkll+9v5SGvRxrpeNbY4qUhyU6v7MBj vCGKhc4xG/VExHhOOnZZbmc1HF+ahfT23T/FkcmYw6bJZl3CJJTpDKmTvXp8ACes1BWxnR Gvun3016yyTITE+3PzLWsxUrLYhhebzVmRLJWpFr3r0QX1mdomdp8qajAzxLZ8kkFhwmPO N32hJNcCDPqxY4vOot733DK2yfSBobS5F29ycynlEORFr4FtT+SdYggVs0eNnP24+r8OAE yAbKs5AQcupZ520ahTOH+fr8yZjC8ZNAZjwScmiNye0OXmP5Y45RXCjQZF6Xgg== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4SNv2X236rzpCT for ; Mon, 6 Nov 2023 01:31:32 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 3A61VWhT033357 for ; Mon, 6 Nov 2023 01:31:32 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 3A61VWw9033356 for toolchain@FreeBSD.org; Mon, 6 Nov 2023 01:31:32 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: toolchain@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 274927] Toolchain fails on the __sync_val_compare_and_swap function without -march=native (port biology/seqwish) Date: Mon, 06 Nov 2023 01:31:32 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: bin X-Bugzilla-Version: 13.2-STABLE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: marklmi26-fbsd@yahoo.com X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: toolchain@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: Maintenance of FreeBSD s integrated toolchain List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-toolchain List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D274927 --- Comment #7 from Mark Millard --- https://clang.llvm.org/docs/UsersManual.html reports: QUOTE Several micro-architecture levels as specified by the x86-64 psABI are defi= ned. When compilation * is done with -mcx16 and optimization turned on, * this primitive uses the CMPXCHG16B instruction * and results in optimal speed. * * The CMPXCHG16B instruction is available on most modern 64-bit x86 processors. * Some older processors that don't implement this instruction * will crash with an "Illegal instruction" error * upon attempting to run this code. However __sync_bool_compare_and_swap is usually provided by a compiler libr= ary such as libgcc or libcompiler-rt. I don't think we have this function for 1= 28 bit integers, though. As noted in the comment, the code should be compiled with -mxc16 for optimal performance. Processors which do not support CMPXCHG16B are quite ancient n= ow. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Mon Nov 6 14:11:55 2023 X-Original-To: toolchain@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4SPCvw2lm7z4yjtk for ; Mon, 6 Nov 2023 14:11:56 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4SPCvv67Plz3Fbs for ; Mon, 6 Nov 2023 14:11:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1699279915; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=dp97CyyoURAgUOpHSgioy4q/8CZv19TNTehJt8Of4MU=; b=wc7+ZGm79iYphZYH5cxwLcdp/FdYgYqIgsQyoeCFgC59K8zmspbc1BaKRaeCmvnfbjMhSO sr59pMYhR1KJw7Qx8eXPDBvr6o0i4146iq+bT7pVdY/GAvwkvAFzFjOnvWgJXkj5M7Bni2 +B91DokQLbTUU+AgSdP0FZQsDY8PAHQZyDiViv0KryGxx8B1UgIq8cB8W4oOOJ9H7MJxKE vs/SrtxFqcxtqglLGzckfNgrzhYzUt7A7hMwixAIc9+XF8eCRxVbz4hSeQzBye4Vs/kAiS kzvEg4LLSgsujE6eUjEO9rRni/PFpMk1u/rvf27dgBI+wH/3QVdvLfuGX1AlyQ== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1699279915; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=dmaAIViEobDiOVQr4pYCldhCqzpFT+JGf0fPmeT7cXaIGmE+8UJcodXIRhC/8C5Vv+PfMW 0f8tuwACulsovihlYQ2UraaFOZt1oP0hqWr9k9Rew1zAgLUKiLRcyfKMYit4kOCHng7Vdc 4KxFX8pbKk8VnmSMcRxxkcDYTz14fwvdrsOyYI7XOubpgrygE+cAvg8klBtVb3zcFQE9AQ vZR9uZBoJMXd77E6Cr4afJo+s4KYfSmICRqAmq+EbYC0IVv07074Ts17XDARW9Js4lOMYi TkyG68+6mrSWSUfw30zZGHOfqeHzLLbCTKhT+kH4YDNEs4+pzXvfTmfDZpIbUA== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4SPCvv5D03z18tS for ; Mon, 6 Nov 2023 14:11:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 3A6EBtnX024929 for ; Mon, 6 Nov 2023 14:11:55 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 3A6EBtRe024928 for toolchain@FreeBSD.org; Mon, 6 Nov 2023 14:11:55 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: toolchain@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 274927] Toolchain fails on the __sync_val_compare_and_swap function without -march=native (port biology/seqwish) Date: Mon, 06 Nov 2023 14:11:55 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: bin X-Bugzilla-Version: 13.2-STABLE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: marklmi26-fbsd@yahoo.com X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: toolchain@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: Maintenance of FreeBSD s integrated toolchain List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-toolchain List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D274927 --- Comment #9 from Mark Millard --- (In reply to Dimitry Andric from comment #8) Interesting.
