The 5 reports first entry was always 'ieee80211_encap+0x512'. The bug seems to work deterministic. If it was kind of a race condition, where thread B frees the mbuf currently processed by thread A, I would expect multiple KASAN reports to start with different code lines because they should not be so exactly synchronized that thread B would always hit exactly the same point of execution of thread A. One more observation: Running the test with an unencrypted WLAN connection produces no KASAN repo= rt at all. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Sun Dec 10 15:43:23 2023 X-Original-To: wireless@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4Sp8Kl3NnZz541Hh for ; Sun, 10 Dec 2023 15:43:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4Sp8Kl1dQtz3MQZ for ; Sun, 10 Dec 2023 15:43:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1702223003; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=YW7dPo75/6ZjV2uc82Eb0ROEGvJ+p1KkhaFC28D81swtIp7Im0o8OMRlPOqui3923AmBHb /v/T/+pn2C6CqO0NfrLIQTm3M3uZ3gWy7AMuXeuU0ECL6SHq6Z5Xsvvm3IQpoUON/ddBxy rY7ZJPVXLMUVFalGkVUYQKXqDjLvoR5PQa4Qn2K4tdg8vBcgcEXTpQeGBlmAroJih4QOKL y0D/MKlee4eCBbqGB8ydGKdE9nCcXzFxvh+NJlzhMqgahOCverx6dyhtKtAVstaQxQSwzp xoJZaGLrPAxQkmZzVrqRilaUPfPiIJYdPzTeJo/H6wCM7HIjvFDMAdZZ5JNudA== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1702223003; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=832Vcv7o0lxH6ot7lCDhhiCQ9lpw0npL7k0n8CorcFY=; b=ymlvnbLnH/3FwMmTNe1znyxNVJJRljOTCeSOWsPo0r2FrSQ4Q7lqcgUBsgfCe4NdmShrNF FH8hpL0qPx5xUuOYwzF8uwpn8p2DtZnFjiM0Ss0MR2E7CPeHL+jje1tDHBRDr3RnSWi+H6 cyBnwlgt4Vh5m8OL5opB0Nho3f3tAQZvg8BJbM6ZKCAhYTARdliDMYt+hTvmMrKwBJ2o2i hbXGvgRARLjsCXxlNhr6/o8eQYXlw0lCtp4VqDdz2aKNMOw3Q6MCl3osyq+u6oPV2IDW7s ksI9EN0OeHLYMKh7t2Fx/gyW8riIKaKWP6W+mpOGRcFseNtlgpMuKocDIgD6mw== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4Sp8Kl0hpBztG5 for ; Sun, 10 Dec 2023 15:43:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 3BAFhNHA083668 for ; Sun, 10 Dec 2023 15:43:23 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 3BAFhNpc083666 for wireless@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 10 Dec 2023 15:43:23 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: wireless@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 275616] bwn driver causes kernel panic after connect Date: Sun, 10 Dec 2023 15:43:23 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: wireless X-Bugzilla-Version: 14.0-RELEASE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: markj@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: wireless@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: Discussions List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-wireless List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D275616 --- Comment #13 from Mark Johnston --- (In reply to Frank Hilgendorf from comment #12) I think you're right. So, ieee80211_mbuf_adjust() is going to set needed_space =3D 118 + 24 + 8 f= or CCMP. If ieee80211_mbuf_adjust() needs to allocate a new mbuf header, the header will have MHLEN - 150 =3D 10 bytes of space. The assertion "needed_space <=3D MHLEN" should actually be "needed_space + sizeof(struct ether_header) <=3D MHLEN", and I suspect that that assertion = would fail for bwn. And, in stable/13 sizeof(struct pkthdr) is 8 bytes smaller, so there was en= ough space then, but now it's not enough. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Sun Dec 10 17:56:39 2023 X-Original-To: wireless@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4SpCHW54bPz549Z0 for ; And if you are willing/able to test changes? If so please let me know the following and reply to me privately (Reply-To is set!) and I'll assemble a list. I may share the list with others working on wireless. Please answer the following questions (adjusting wlan0 etc. to your setup): (1) Are you using 11n on FreeBSD on a daily basis?
