Ben" To: questions@freebsd.org Subject: ATAPI with Dell P75 Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-questions@freebsd.org Precedence: bulk I am trying to install 2.1.0-R on a Dell Dimension P-75 16/1GB off the CD-Rom. Catch is that the CDROM is an ATAPI off the EIDE controller on the motherboard. So after some tinkering, I set up the CDROM as a slave to the Quantum Fireball as the master. The CDROM is an NEC and when the install kernal does the probe, i get: wdc0: unit 1 (atapi): , r emoveable, iordy atapi0.1: unknown phase Then when i try to access the drive from the install i'm told that there is no CDROM installed. I'm running a Triton motherboard, and would really appreciate any help. Thanks! Ben. If not at install, how can I get it to run afterwards?
