Hmmm.  Looking at the SONYMDM.INI file was less than helpful.  I was
unable to find anything that looked like it might turn on the
speaker.  I even tried entering all the init strings I could find :-(.

Have you tried lately?  Since the code commits that cleaned these
things up?
