That is the proper way. The second reason, besides etiquette is that the single person may well not know the answer and you are cutting yourself short by not posting to the list. I believe this has been mentioned to you at least once already. In this case, I don't know much of anything about setting up the graphics of Xorg. I manage to get it going enough to get by and leave it alone.
