Hi there,
I'm on a approx 3 days old 3.3-RC and decided to give pcm a try (instead
of snd). I wonder where the 2nd DMA is:
vga0: <Matrox MGA 2164W graphics accelerator> rev 0x00 int a irq 14 on
pci0.12.0
Probing for PnP devices:
CSN 1 Vendor ID: ALS0001 [0x01009305] Serial 0x01000000 Comp ID: @@@0000
[0x0000
0000]
pcm1 (SB16pnp <Avance Asound 100> sn 0x01000000) at 0x220-0x22f irq 9 drq 6
flag
s 0x13 on isa
Probing for devices on the ISA bus:
Kernel config file:
#Soundcard
#controller snd0
#device sb0 at isa? port 0x220 irq 5 drq 1
#device sbxvi0 at isa? drq 5
#device sbmidi0 at isa? port 0x330
# Luigi's snd code (use INSTEAD of snd0 and all VOXWARE drivers!).
# You may also wish to enable the pnp controller with this, for pnp
# sound cards.
#
controller pnp0
device pcm0
#device pcm0 at isa? port ? tty irq 5 drq 1 flags 0x15
^--- this line reflects what I set the card to
using the alconfig.exe tool that came with the
card. Mtv sound is not 'smooth', it sounds like
it is gasping for breath ;-) My guess this is
because the 16bit DMA is not OK (??).
As I don't pretend to understand this, what is it that I'm missing?
TIA,
Wilko
