Sorry, i wasn't too clear. The only thing I changed to the config was the addition of the usb2 support. I had tried compiling the generic kernel which didn't work either. The good news is that I installed and ran cvsup and used the 2nd compile method in the handbook (after running make clean) and the kernel compiled.
