I am having trouble getting tcpd to write anything to my messages log. I have auth.info in my syslog.conf file. I set up some hosts in hosts.deny and the daemon is not writing anything to messages. (tcpd is working correctly, the hosts in the hosts.deny file are denied access to the system.) Any help or advice on getting tcpd to spit out some information to my message log /var/log/messages would be greatly appreciated. I've attached my syslog.conf file: # $Id: syslog.conf,v 1.9 1998/10/14 21:59:55 nate Exp $ # # Spaces are NOT valid field separators in this file. # Consult the syslog.conf(5) manpage. *.err;kern.debug;auth.notice;mail.crit /dev/console *.notice;kern.debug;lpr.info;mail.crit;news.err /var/log/messages mail.info /var/log/maillog lpr.info /var/log/lpd-errs cron.* /var/cron/log *.err root *.notice;news.err root *.alert root *.emerg * !startslip *.* /var/log/slip.log !ppp *.* /var/log/ppp.log auth.info /var/log/messages Many Thanks, Gene Harris To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
