Not entirely true.  In /tools their is a fbsdboot.exe that allow you
to boot FreeBSD from real mode, (no Windows, no emm386) and in
/xperimnt (sp?) their is an experimental Win32 boot loader.  I have
tested neither, but if someone where to compile the win32 loader for
me I would give it a go.
