hackish or not here's the picture..
The automatic upgrade provedure cannot replace bootblocks.
however we will soon only be able to profuce kernels the existing
bootblocks can't read/load.

they look for a a.out file called /kernel

we give them one.

These are "embedded" FreeBSD machines.
they are all over the world.
We are certainly not in the position of bringing each back to the factory!
