You then have to duplicate all the stuff in /sys/conf, special-case things in /sys/boot, add tons of stub headers, etc., etc. I had this while developing, and it was much worse to deal with than the current setup -- and while developing, I could use symlinks in the tree. A NOTES64, or conditional logic in config(8), are better solutions, I think. -Nathan
