Hey dude,.. thanks for all your help : ) At 09:43 PM 12/03/2001 -0700, z thompson wrote: >-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- >Hash: SHA1 > >On Mon, 12 Mar 2001, you wrote: > > Hi Guys > > > > Thanks a lot for your help. This is the 2nd cd that was burned for me by my friend. It's straight off the free bsd ftp site and it's an iso -image which is translated (using the cd burner s/w,... pretty standard stuff i thing) and burned on to the cd. I then use the cd to boot off of as specified in the bios. I specified 4G's of space for free bsd as follows: size name 80Mb / 1450Mb /usr 800Mb /usr/local 200Mb /var 1000Mb /home 400Mb swap I think that's quite a bit so it shouldn't give me any insufficient memory errors,..... (i've had throes before when my partitions were too small during red hat installations).a >You're not getting any panics during installation are you? The files just keep >copying even though some of them failed? The messages say that the files couldn't be copied, I'm not sure if this is the root of the problem or not since this is the 2nd cd that was given to me from my friend and he made sure that this one was okay 'cause i told him that before some of the files didn't get copied over. The messages just say something along the lines of "unable to transfer the x1k98 distribution from ad0c" or cannot transfer pc98-servers/x9480. After getting these messages i just continue on w/ the installation and the installation completes. Everything works except the graphical component, and i think all the files get copied except the "x" stuff (which i think has to do w/ the graphical component of free bsd). Is there any way i can get my hands on a rock solid cd that will not have any problems w/ transferring files? This is weird 'cause this is like the 2nd cd that was burned for me and the third cd that my other friend burned for me won't even boot from the cd (even when he did a proper job of getting the distribution put on the cd). So,... if you have anymore insights I'd really appreciate that.
