To answer the majority of your complaints, I'm summing it all up right here. You are making the assumption that everyone is running the latest greatest releases available. You also assume that we all have the luxory of assembling, and installing the machines on our network. Some of us do actually inherit this crap. Upgrading them, while would be a dream come true for me, isn't always a possibility.
