This is unavoidable for a generic parallel ("Centronics") port, since
it has never been designed to perform input operations, and the only
chance to raise an interrupt is the ACK line.
Perhaps we need a driver for the more "intelligent" parallel adaptors.
I think, 115 kbps on a FIFO UART are a more solid solution by now.
