But then again, there are lots of mirrors. Where I live (Germany), I usually get 180 kb./sec and more from a local mirror. That doesn't mean it's a bad idea. P2P could be a very powerful tool for distributing free software, documentation, patches... On the other hand security comes to mind. But wait, you can still get your checksums from the server.
