The verison of X in FreeBSD 4 (XFree 3.3.6) does not support the i810/i815 chip.
You will have to install XFree 4.1 for this to work. XFree 4.1 is in a package in
/usr/ports/x11/XFree86-4/

Use xf86config to configure X after install.
