Why run the inetd daemon consuming resources when all the optional servers it can launch are commented out in inetd.conf? If not selected in sysinstall inetd should not start. The statement in /etc/defaults/rc.conf should be changed to enable="NO" Then it would be correct. -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-questions@freebsd.org [mailto:owner-freebsd-questions@freebsd.org]On Behalf Of Massimiliano Stucchi Sent: Tuesday, January 06, 2004 1:32 PM To: questions@freebsd.org Subject: Re: why does inetd default to enable On Tue, 6 Jan 2004 12:57:12 -0500 "fbsd_user" wrote: > The 4.9 /etc/defaults/rc.conf file has inetd_enable="YES" > > Why is that?
