I think a USB ethernet device may be working now on -STABLE, but I haven't checked up on the USB stuff in quite a while. On second thought a null-modem cable might work, I've never set up SLIP connection, but take a look at slattach(8) and sliplogin(8) According to the lp(4) man page you need to have the following in your kernel (3.2-RELEASE): controller ppbus0 device plip0 at ppbus? controller ppc0 at isa? port? net irq7 but it seems to only work FreeBSD <--> FreeBSD or FreeBSD <--> Linux, according to the man page.
