Disk partitioning is different, but not really hard. If you're used to using some Linux distribution, you may find the need to learn about disklabel and re-learn the location of a few configuration files for your email program (at least some programs end up in different locations, much as they do with different Linux distributions...). Give Freebsd a try! If you figured out Linux, Freebsd will not be very hard to figure out at all. I'll add that the ports/packages system in Freebsd is really easy.
