Here are the particulars: - computer: Dell Dimesion XPS P200s with 512 cache Pentium processor 48MB SDRAM 2.1GB EIDE Hard Drive 12X IDE CD-ROM USR 33.6 Telephony Modem w/ Call Center -operating system: Windows 95 I used Partition Magic 3.0 to partition my disk (chapter2, scenerio 3 in the User's Guide): 1.05 GB to Win95 340.6 MB to an empty primary partition (for the FreeBSD) balance of memory to D: applications, E: data, and a small bit to the Boot Manager (The CD-ROM was moved from D: to F: as a result.) I made the partition with the Boot Manager the active partition. I created a boot floppy with the makeflp.bat file, left the CD (FreeBSD disk #1) and the boot floppy in their respective drives and restarted the machine. I got into a menu utility (without first hitting the boot manager selection prompt), did a lot of reading therein, and then started the Novice Installation. I got into FDISK (?) where I selected the "unused" partition, followed by Create. The entered name, FreeBSD, was displayed on that partition. The installation failed one or two menues later (the first menu where size -- amount of memory -- was important). I cancelled the installation and got out. First, am I even starting out correctly? Should I be using "installation from a DOS Partition"? If so, how exactly? If not, what? I am trying to set this up so I can get school work done at home, so if I could just get a step by step set of instructions (either by mail or phone), that would be great! I've already spent several hours today trying to set this up with no progress to show on this OR my homework. Thanks for your time and patience.
