I'm using a USB mouse and moused, but previously I used a PS/2-style
mouse with moused as well.  In summary:

- ensure that moused is started with the "-z 4" option, which maps
the wheel motion into buttons 4 and 5

and in /etc/X11/XFree86Config:

	Section "InputDevice"
	# Identifier and driver
	    Identifier  "Mouse1"
	    Driver      "mouse"
	    Option "Protocol"    "auto"
	    Option "Device"      "/dev/sysmouse"
	    Option "Buttons"    "7"
	EndSection

the last Buttons option may not actually be necessary..
