IP can use Ethernet_II or Ethernet_SNAP, but FreeBSD uses only
Ethernet_II. IPX runs on four frame types: Ethernet_II, Ethernet_802.3,
Ethernet_802.2, Ethernet_SNAP. The _default_ frame type for NetWare v3.x
is Ethernet_802.3, the _default_ frame for NetWare v4.x is Ethernet_802.2.
Only top management from IEEE and Novell knows, why IPX runs on four
frames. I have headake (?) from their decision, which is normall for
normall folks.
