Solaris has this nifty little tool for querying the bootparam server on a booting system. Handy little gadget for getting various system configuration at boot time. Neither OpenBSD nor FreeBSD have it (FreeBSD has callbootd, but I cannot get it to work easily), so I wrote a simple 'bpgetfile' for the CSLab to use for some of our diskless systems. The code is available at http://www.cs.rpi.edu/~crossd/FreeBSD/bpgetfile.tar.gz Have fun. -- David Cross | email: crossd@cs.rpi.edu Acting Lab Director | NYSLP: FREEBSD Systems Administrator/Research Programmer | Web: http://www.cs.rpi.edu/~crossd Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, | Ph: 518.276.2860 Department of Computer Science | Fax: 518.276.4033 I speak only for myself. | WinNT:Linux::Linux:FreeBSD To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-hackers" in the body of the message
