Does the missing message appear on the console? In other words, does any message appear on the FreeBSD computer screen when you telnet in from another box? You may have to be logged into the console as root for this to appear. Did you try changing this: *.err;kern.debug;auth.notice;mail.crit /dev/console to *.err;kern.debug;auth.none;authpriv.nonemail.crit /dev/console Did you restart inetd? (e.g. killall -HUP inetd). -- Dan Langille - DVL Software Limited The FreeBSD Diary - http://www.FreeBSDDiary.org/freebsd/ NZ FreeBSD User Group - http://www.nzfug.nz.freebsd.org/ The Racing System - http://www.racingsystem.com/racingsystem.htm To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
